Here’s an insight into the latest and greatest from BMW. Innovations and modern luxury is the driving force for the BMW 750 Li. Infact, you might feel like you are checking into a 5 star hotel than a car. The BMW 7 Series extends typical BMW driving pleasure to include the enjoyment of being driven. Features and functionalities such as the BMW Gesture Control, Panoramic Sky Lounge, BMW Laserlight, Remote Control Parking, BMW display key, Executive Drive Pro, BMW night vision takes this BMW to the next level of class, into the future of driving comfort and a pioneering of innovative technology.
The BMW 750 Li center console design, steering wheel, the fancy gear is all familiar to what we’ve seen in the recent BMWs. The luxury, the technology, the comfort is what makes this car a BMW 7 series. Modern Luxury is defined in the BMW 750 Li. Finest leather with exclusive walnut wood finishes along with aluminum inlays. Perfectly coordinated interior trims and contrasts gives the BMW an elegance of it’s own.
The BMW Gesture Control was the real attraction in the car. The magic that I impress by passengers or let’s say the advancement in how you operate a car is changing. To increase\decrease the volume, to accept\reject a call or to even change a radio channel I would just make a gesture and it would just happen, no more pressing buttons or screens. The technology was flawless and was the future we were witnessing inside the BMW 750 Li.
The BMW 750 Li is even loaded with Ambient Air package(notice the fragrance icon in the center console image above) which fills in the interior with a subtle pleasant fragrance. You can choose from eight different fragrances belonging to four themes. The intensity of the fragrance can also be set to three levels. The air from the outside is filtered and purified which improves air quality through oxygen ionisation as per BMW. This fragrance should last around 6 months before you need to purchase the next cartridge.
The outstanding sound quality inside the BMW 750 Li could be appreciated thanks to the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond(made from pure synthetic diamonds) surround sound system. Around 16 speakers delivering an output of 1,400 watts of exciting surround sound experience. The speakers also subtly illuminate while it’s being used.
Front view of the BMW 7 Series is the signature distinctive designed grille but this time it’s got an active air stream kidney grille. The air vents with their slats in Chrome are visible and actively regulate the air stream. If the cooling demand for the engine increases, the air vents are opened. In the closed state they improve aerodynamics and ensure a striking presence due to the vertical slats in Chrome.
The latest model BMW 7 series is now 130 kgs lighter which gives this car a better advantage when it comes to petrol consumption, stability and power. It’s the first time they’ve applied carbon core to BMW 7 series. Although it’s 130 kgs lighter it still feels safe and strong inside. Oh and I must appreciate how quiet this car is. You don’t hear a thing from the outside(no road, wind and engine noise). It’s so calm and peaceful inside this car.
The BMW 750Li is powered by a Twin Power Turbo v8 combining two turbochargers delivering 450hp with a torque of 650nm. The real joy in driving this car is when you change the driving mode to sports mode. Noticed when the car is in comfort mode you need to push the accelerator a little harder for it to start moving whereas in sports mode the moment you put your feet on the pedal it starts to sprint.
You have different types of driving modes in the BMW 750 Li like SPORT, COMFORT or ECO PRO modes which modes having it’s own color themed instrument digital display. Adaptive mode is a little different and not a mode you see in most cars. When in Adaptive Mode, the system takes account of numerous indicators such as kickdown, steering wheel movements and cruise control, along with the driver’s individual style of driving influencing the Dynamic Damper Control, the steering and Steptronic transmission and continually adapts the settings to suit the current driving situation.
The Driving Assistant Plus feature offers the comfort of partially autonomous driving using Active cruise control with Stop&Go function and Steering and lane control assistant. Safety is improved by Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping assistant with active side collision protection, approach control warning and person warning with city braking function and Crossing traffic warning. I usually turn off the lane keeping assistant as it kind of pulls me back to the original lane if I try to change lanes without using the indicator. In slowly moving traffic and traffic jams, the vehicle maintains the selected distance to the car ahead with automatic braking and accelerating.
The BMW display key shows various information about the vehicle’s status. The time can be displayed, along with remaining fuel and current range, service notifications as well as the current status of the central locking system, the windows and the glass roof. In addition, the car can also be operated via the BMW display key for Remote Control Parking and Auxiliary heating. The BMW display key is charged wirelessly(as you see in the above image). You also get the traditional key which requires no charging and takes lesser space in your pocket.
So with BMW display key I could actually remote park the car standing outside the car. A very useful feature when you want to park your car in a tight parking space. You can stand out the car and control the car using the Remote Control Parking function in the BMW display key which moves the car forward into or reversing out of a tight parking space. The entire parking procedure is monitored by Park Distance Control (PDC), the Parking assistant and the Surround View sensors. Once parked, the engine can also be switched off via the key. And when it’s time to move on, the engine can also be restarted via the key.
Parking assistant is a feature that we’ve seen in many modern cars and so it’s no surprise that we see it here. I love the surround view camera effects shown when parking which includes Rear view camera, Panorama View, Top View and 3D View.
The navigation is simple and easy to use. A slim and sleek 10.25″ LCD color touch display console with split screen functionality for optimal readability and an integrated with iDrive touch controller. The system comprises of voice control, a DVD drive in the front, (additional to the Blu-ray drive that exist behind for the back seat passengers separately). There is a builtin storage of 20gb for music. For navigation you can easily type in the display using the touch screen function.
In laser highbeam mode, BMW Laserlight illuminates a range of up to 600 metres − nearly twice as far as that of conventional headlights. With the use of this new headlight technology, BMW Laserlight improves safety with better nighttime visibility. If you see a blue accent inside the BMW headlight then you know it’s got the latest BMW laser light technology.
BMW night vision is an exciting feature with able to recognition living being in the dark. A feature I have seen only in James Bonds car. It’s amazing you can recognize moving objects in the dark from a long distance as far as 300m.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects all essential information needed when driving like speed, navigation, speed limits, telephone and entertainment details. The icons projected on windscreen are in high resolution color which is easily readable during the day time, thanks to it’s auto adjustment of brightness gauging the external light conditions.
There is hardly a more effective place to relax when on the move than in the Executive Lounge of the BMW 7 Series. The back seat passenger is the true king in this car. It offers the rear passenger maximum comfort through a wide range of adjustment options includes a massage, even a footrest for a particularly comfortable resting position(provided there is no front seat passenger).
Rear-seat entertainment Experience is operated using BMW Touch Command. It includes two 10″ colour displays on the rear side of the front seat backrests. It also includes a Blu-ray player , an HDMI connection for mobile devices, as well as various connections for MP3 players, game consoles, etc. Up to three sets of headphones can be connected via the integrated wireless interface.
Passengers who occupy the luxurious seats in the rear enjoy a generous amount of space. The Executive Lounge rear console offers a wealth of functions for the best possible comfort in the back seat of the vehicle. Via BMW Touch Command, a 7″ touchscreen tablet, it also allows for convenient operation of the comfort and entertainment functions. Rear-seat passengers can choose between eight different massage functions! The have also included a vitalization program which is to give you active exercises in the car to relax your spine. It’s a good thought but I don’t think much people would be using it too much. Too much work! I’d rather enjoy the lazy massages 🙂
The BMW Touch Command is a tablet with 7″ display that is integrated into the center armrest in the rear. It is connected to the car’s systems and offers comprehensive operation and setting options. Using the tablet, the rear seats and front passenger seat can also be adjusted, Air conditioning, ventilation and seat heating in the rear can be operated, as well as the interior lighting with Ambient light, the blinds for the glass sunroof and the roller sun blinds. The entertainment functions can also be controlled.
The Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge gives passengers a clear view of the sky day and night, while creating a generous, open sense of space. Electric roller sun blinds for the front and rear are adjusted separately to offer pleasant shade from direct sunlight.
The Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge with six colors of Ambient light experience creating a cozy atmosphere. The light-flooded interior makes an exceptional impression. Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge is actually made up of more than 15,000 light elements.
The welcome light carpet feature didn’t seem to very handy as Dubai is lit almost everywhere so unless it’s pitch dark you really don’t notice the string of white Light pattern created under the open doors of the car.
The BMW 750 Li starts with a price of Dhs 575,000 and will go up as you add options to the car. If I am buying this car, I am definitely getting a driver too cause there’s a lot more fun in the backseat and it’s truly designed for the Bosses.
