Vida Downtown Dubai hotel should be a familiar sight for those who often have the habit to laze around Downtown Dubai especially during the weekends . I’ve visited this boutique hotel several times to experience their contemporary restaurants with different concepts and cuisines. This time I am staying at Vida Downtown Dubai Hotel. A stylish hotel located in the prime fashionable urban heart of new Dubai.
The modern luxury interiors of Vida is very inviting. Simple but elegant, youthful and warm. Vida inspires and promotes art and creativity. One of the first things you notice when you enter Vida Downtown Dubai hotel is the unique floating structure in space hanging from their high ceiling lobby. This was designed by a famous Japanese artist created by using simple materials and an interesting process which gives it a unique view to visitors unlike they’ve seen before.
After the decor, the next thing that will catch your attention is the line up of those beautiful 27 inch premium imacs stretched across their business lounge. Clearly showing that Vida Hotel wants to offer the best experience in the connected world for their visitors. Vida Business lounge is designed keeping in mind the young entrepreneurs and business men of today. Business lounge includes all the other services like faxing, scanning, printing etc.
We stayed in the smallest room available at Vida hotel which was a 32m² deluxe room. The interiors has been minimalist and efficient. With a little touch of Arabic, it reflects Modern Dubai which is an expected theme from a hotel located in the heart of Downtown Dubai. The color contrast is pure and elegant.
They’ve got a cozy bath experience, You can lay in the open bathtub while still not being disconnected from your room. Just perfect for honeymoon couples. They have a closed shower room separately. The bathroom doors are made from matt glass which limits your privacy and a little awkward if you have guests in your room.
The entry to our room was made special as soon as we found sweet treats and a unique VIDA table calendar found on our table. The Vida table calendar is now proudly showcased on my office table. The sweet treats were brownies, berries and meringue standing on black and white chocolate chips. Just the perfect treat to begin with. We also found cute chocolate boxes on our bed which contained thin square shaped pieces of dark chocolate.
The hotel is fairly new hence the connectivity part is taken care well. They have all the latest ports and interfaces for your devices. So there isn’t any issue when it comes to charging your devices. They offer you a cord phone on your working desk and a wireless phone next to your bed. Love the phones, they just feel great in your hands.
We were lucky to get a room situated in the corner side of the building which had 3 windows giving us a broader view of the streets of Downtown Dubai. It was also from here we noticed the Trolley bus service at Downtown Dubai. There was one stop just in front of Vida hotel where you could get in and reach close by locations such as the The Address hotel, Souq Al Bahar, Dubai Mall, Dancing fountain. We were on top of the roofless Trolley bus which was a tourist experience and the best part the trolley bus service is FREE.
The media entertainment is very well taken care by their 42 inch flat screen internet television. There is an electronic host within the television that will guide you in using this new gen interactive television. Besides watching media entertainment, you can also view restaurant menu, place orders, request for other hotel services and play games. The remote acts like a wii remote and you can play games such as angry birds etc which is controlled by the motion of your remote.
We spent our dinner at 3in1 restaurant which is the heart and soul restaurant of Vida Downtown Dubai hotel. The interiors make you feel at home. They also have a dedicated space for Xbox gaming for kids so we had a peaceful dinner while the kids enjoyed playing Xbox games.
I was in complete love with their mocktails. They were beautiful in color and outstanding in taste. If you are here at 3in1 you better try one of their mocktails. Following are their mocktails below:
- Caiberrynha: strawberries, raspberries and blackberries shaken with fresh lime and cranberry.
- Deep Blue: Green apple juice mixed with blue curacao and homemade rose syrup.
- Passion-in-between: Fresh passion fruit blended with sweet and sour mix, topped up with soda fizz.
When it comes to selecting hot and cold Mezzeh it’s difficult to just settle with one or two of them. Luckily there is an option in the menu to select Mezzeh platter by a meter(12 pieces) or half meter(6 pieces) which also comes cheaper in price. Try more for less. The tantalizing chicken livers and spring rolls where the memorable ones from the 6 we had.
From the mains we had the juicy king sized US steak along with luscious mashed potatoes. The lamb chops and meats were simply mouth watering from the mixed grill plate. Although the oriental rice that came along the mixed grill was not very much to my liking.
The hot chocolate pudding along with it’s cold ice cream and the cheese kunafa stole the show from the dessert section and were irresistible once you start them. The Vida Tiramisu was one of a kind Tiramisu, a modified version of the original Tiramisu. Most noticeable content would be date cake, figs, jalab syrup along with the espresso and marscaponne. The content is much more rich but I would still stick with the original Tiramisu.
Like most hotels in Dubai they offer swimming pool and gymansium facilities. But the swimming pool here is a grand setup with cabanas around it and you have the 3in1 restaurant to serve you all day while you are in the pool. Vida Downtown Dubai hotel also provides complimentary bicycle ride, quite handy if you would like to explore Downtown Dubai. I did take the bicycle out early morning for a quick ride. But taking this bicycle is like taking rent a car. There is a big form you need to read, fill and sign which kind of scares you a little. They should make it simple and inviting as just telling the room number and taking the bicycle out.
Then came the best part of our stay. The breakfast at 3in1 which is usually between 06:30am and 10:30am. A delicious spread of freshly baked breads, croissants, puffs, nuts, honey, dry fruits, cold mezzeh, healthier options and other ready made dishes, most importantly presented in style. Sitting outside the restaurant, facing the pool with a little breeze and the views of high rise buildings in Downtown Dubai was special. Newspapers come electronic. You can get to read them on ipads.
Besides the open buffet, on our table we found a menu to order for breakfast. Whatever we ordered from this menu turned out to be GOLD. Be it the waffles, eggs benedicts, french toast they’ve all been a mesmerizing experience. These breakfast firstly come very attractive and the quality is also of the highest level. The French toasts and waffles are a must try here. I haven’t been as attracted to waffles as the ones found here. French Toast was one of the best I’ve had and dipping that thick bread into the candian dipper made it even more lip smacking good!
