There is no horse racing to see today evening but lots of meats and traditional arabic food to break for Iftar. Iftar at Meydan is priced at AED 170 per person inclusive of generous buffet options, still water, soft drinks and Ramadan juices.

We sit surrounded by the Iftar buffet. The salad collection was decent and you would find all that you’d expect from an arabic buffet. The usual suspects hummus, mouthabal all tasted as expected and nothing was disappointing from here. For the drinks they did have the traditional drinks but none of them had the punch effect. I felt the drinks could have been better especially the laban.

The hot appetizers were nice especially the spring rolls and meat kibbeh. They had a live cooking station where they would make fresh saj with cheese and zaater. These were amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed their warm saj. You could also find stir fried beef getting ready on the side. Sushi were good to have which was a surprise guest for an Arabic buffet.

Mains is where they actually shine. It was  a thriller for meat lovers. You could find the best of arabic meats here. It all started with the hot baby lamb ouzi which was freshly cut and delicious. They had grilled salmon which was again mouth watering. They had iranian styled cooked meats which were blended with saffron. Typical arabic rice mixed with lamb meat. There was local favourite harees along with many other grills. In other words, this was the best part for me at Meydan Iftar.

Desserts is where Meydan had to improve. Although the pretty desserts looked very promising from a distance but they could not reach up to the expectations for quality and taste. They really need to put some effort here.
