A hearty brunch is some of those weekend specials we look forward to. If the atmosphere and ambience is great then we even spent half a day inside the restaurant just laughing, eating, talking, playing. Pavilion Downtown Dubai which you can refer here was one of our favourites for the same reason specially when it came to pricing, quality of the buffet, facilities, ambience, kids corner. Now the same Pavilion Downtown Dubai has moved to the new Rove Downtown Dubai located opposite to Dubai Mall. It’s now bigger, spacious and since connected to a young and modern urban hotel, the brunch experience has it’s own advantages. The new name for the restaurant is The Daily at Rove and the Brunch offered here is the same as it was at The Pavilion Downtown.
The moment you enter Rove Downtown Dubai you know it’s different. There is no way you cannot appreciate the artworks on the walls of the latest Downtown Rove hotel. Like a secret passage you enter The Daily restaurant by passing through a convenience store located inside the hotel. When you enter The Daily you appreciate the space, the natural light pouring in from all sides of the restaurant and walls with a decor of plates. Nice wooden benches, tables and you could choose different tables and seating options to your liking. You could also sit out with views of Burj Khalifa but in this heat today we obviously were more than happy to be seated inside 🙂
Here’s what I really love about this place. It’s got a dedicated Kids corner in the restaurant which is loaded with kids toys to keep them busy. I don’t remember my children ever disturbing us during our brunch hour at The Daily. Thanks to this beautiful setup of kids play area we could focus on our brunch and friends this day.
For the Brunch you can have unlimited fresh fruit juices of different kinds as well as mixed fresh juices. Even cold milks are packed in a bottle. From the mixed fresh juices my favourite was a mix of passion fruit, orange and carrot juice. You could order only one complimentary hot drink for your brunch. Like the Cappuccino you see above. For those of you who have visited Pavilion before would not be happy with the new mugs, I prefer to still have them in glass where you could see the beautiful texture of coffee in different layers through the cup.

The buffet in general is English. You love tarts, pastries, cakes, cheese, bread, cold cuts, cereals, fresh fruits then you have nothing to worry about. Except for your main everything else here is eaten cold. For cheese lovers nothing like this place where there a wide range of cheese spread across the buffet. Different flavours of Muesli, Granola, Yoghurts gave us a healthy start to our morning brunch at The Daily.
It’s a bit tricky when it comes to your main. Unfortunately you can choose only one Main at the Bench Brunch. So the danger is if you choose the wrong main it could ruin your entire mood for the brunch. We went as a group so I got to try few of their mains. For example the Pancakes and Shakshuka needed to be better here. For pancakes, the blueberry with lemon zest was a little overpowering the whole experience and not sure if it will to everyone’s liking. Eggs came cooked perfect inside the Shakshuka dish but it was very much dominated by tomato and felt more like eggs inside a watery tomato sauce. We really couldn’t taste anything else in the dish which should not be the case. I think they need to recheck their formula here. I admired the sides of labneh and hummus that came along with Shakshuka dish and thoroughly enjoyed having them along with Arabic bread. What came next were the best in mains…
They had salads as a part of their mains. I really admire their salad. The Daily does make fantastic salad and I just couldn’t stop having this well dressed chicken salad until it finished. There was also a surprise cheese burger which was not visible in the main menu and was offered as a special of the day. So we tried the cheese burger and this was the best main for our selection. A real juicy and succulent burger. The pasta that came in a super hot pan couldn’t really shine as its’ good looks as it felt bland. They probably need to add little more ingredients to enjoy this pasta. Perfect for kids but not for adults.
For my unlimited buffet the dessert section was where I kept hovering around most of the time. The tarts, chocolate croissants, whoopies were fresh and enjoyed eating them. The tarts and cakes do keep changing. You can always expect to see a different cake/tart when they get replaced.
They also have an Ala carte menu running on the side. This is primarily for the hotel guests who want to quickly grab something. You can pay and pick what is displayed at the counter.
We also managed to enjoy the perks of the restaurant inside Rove Downtown Dubai. Played a little bit of PS4, Carrom board, they were imacs with internet connection lying around the hotel if you wanted to spent sometime surfing the internet. In General, this brunch ended up scoring more for the location, ambience and the setup. A wonderful place to spent time with friends and family.
