Iftar at Park Regis Kris Kin Dubai – AED 139

Arabic Baklawas, Dates and Nuts
Kris with a view

The holy month of Ramadan has started and almost all restaurants gear up during this month to showcase some of the best they can offer to entice many of us to with their majestic line up of buffet or set menus. At Park Regis Kris Kin, it’s a buffet spread of Pan Asian and Arabic specialities. It’s the Pan Asian section and the LIVE cooking stations that catches my attention here. Priced at AED 139 per person and AED 99 for group bookings. They call it Iftar at Kris with a view and definitely the restaurant has a view to offer to their diners.

We were seated next to the windows which had a beautiful panoramic view of the busy streets of Karama and BurDubai. It’s a spacious restaurant and the buffet was neatly spread across the restaurant. The king sized dates, nuts and baklavas were a little disconnected from the buffet as they were placed right at the entrance of the restaurant so most of us remember it again on our way out of the restaurant.

  • Mango Long Bean Salad, Channa Chaat,

  • Fresh Garden Greens with Selection of Dressings

The hot appetizers were limited in selection but there were plenty of cold appetizers and salads. So naturally ended up eating plenty of cold salad and appetizers which actually felt really good in the tummy. The Arabic Mezzah was well prepared too and so you are guaranteed to enjoy it.

Arabic Specials – Mussaka, chicken Tagine, Burak Be Labna
Oriental Mix Grill
Lamb Ouzi
ARABIC SPECIALS
  • Ouzi with Oriental Rice Mussaka
  • Chicken Tagine
  • Burak Be Labna
  • Oriental Mix Grill

There was a succulent Lamb ouzi which cannot be missed and along with a special oriental rice filled with plenty of vegetables. The grills on sticks were fast moving and luckily the restaurant was able to quickly refill to demand. You probably not like everything you taste from the oriental mixed grill. They were around 3 varieties of grill.

WESTERN CLASSICS – Red snapper fillet, chicken cordon blue, spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni and Garlic Potato Mash

There was also an interesting western classic corner where we found the only fish in the house which was the red snapper fillet. Also along  you would find other favourites such as the spinach and ricotta cannelloni and chicken cordon blue.

Indian Corner – Chicken Mackhani, Matter Paneer and Mutton Biriyani

Mutton in the mutton biriyani was nicely cooked and tender and butter chicken was nice but don’t remember finding any rotis for it. They should have some naans available for such kind of curries.

PAN ASIAN FAVORITES(Thai seafood, Mapo Tofu, Beef Rendang, Veg Chow Mein, Steam Rice)
PAN ASIAN – Noodles and prawn crackers
PAN ASIAN FAVORITES(Thai seafood, Mapo Tofu, Beef Rendang, Veg Chow Mein, Steam Rice)

I felt the real expertise of Kris Kin was the the PAN ASIAN. Pan Asian food never tasted so good. This was one of the best offering of Pan Asian cuisine. The Beef Rendang is a must try!

Chicken Shawarma @ Carving LIVE station
Slow-cooked Beef Short Rib

I can’t forget the slow cooked beef short ribs. Just amazing. This was another highlight of the day which I wouldn’t forget. Freshly cut shawarma cannot be ignored but nothing like the slow cooked beef short ribs effect, was just a class of it’s own.

Desserts – Pistachio Mouhalabia, Fresh cut fruits, Assorted Pastries
Assorted Indian Sweets
Kunafa
SWEETS
  • Selection of Dates, Nuts &
  • Dried Fruits
  • Arabic Sweet Selection
  • Assorted French Pastries and Cakes
  • Rez Bel Halib, Kunafa,
  • Selection of Atayef
  • Pistachio Mouhalabia, Um ali
  • Fresh Fruit Platter

I thought the desserts was the area that needed improvement at Kris. There was a large collection of Indian sweets which was fine but arabic desserts just wasn’t up to the mark. The kunafa really wasn’t the one. Actually their dessert collection takes them one step backward and at the same time they score well with their mains.
