The modern Arabic themed hotel Manzil Downtown Dubai continues to mesmerize me, this time with their Boulevard Kitchen Iftar. It’s not just about the food but the experience and a perfectly lit ambience that makes you feel at home and one of those days where you just didn’t feel like leaving that cozy atmosphere. Iftar at Boulevard Kitchen is priced at AED 170 per adult from sunset to 10:00pm inclusive of soft drinks/juices and Ramadan beverages.

Boulevard Kitchen is an elegance with a modern touch of Arabic. They call it the Arabesque design. Iftar here takes you through a journey of Arabic specialties found around the region. One of the highlights was SaudiArabia this time. They had a dedicated chef all the way from Saudi Arabia to prepare some of their authentic specialties. The luxury seating, staff that are friendly, tantalizing arabic dishes from around the region is ensured to deliver a pleasant Iftar experience to remember.

For the hot appetizers they have the usual Arabic fatayers, cheese rolls, cut shawarmas, Saj with a blend of cheese and zaater etc.  The spinach fatayer was worth a mention but the cheese rolls for some reason were not crispy. It was silent in the mouth. I guess the kind of cheese they use makes the difference.

The cold appetizers were pretty good with a wide collection that it was stretched across the restaurant. There were colorful, some of them you might see it for the first time like there was one that was made from churned beans and rice which was the best for me in the lot. A new flavour, A new taste, A new excitement 🙂

For the drinks they had many options for you. You could have the juices, Traditional Ramadan special drinks or the Moroccon tea or ice tea. Moroccon Iced tea is a must have. You definitely will pick one glass from the way you can see the drink displayed. From the arabic drinks The thick mint Laban and the sweet orange Kamaruddin were on top of its’ game. You would easily get up to grab another glass of these. Highly recommend them to try.

For the mains they had a stretch of lamb and chicken dishes. I also found an indian dish in between which was the butter chicken. Unfortunately they don’t serve any indian rotis for this curry like the naans, chapathis or paratas. Instead you need to visit their bread station pick some suitable bread for it. If there is an indian curry then there should be Indian rotis as well 🙁 Seafood enthusiasts would be disappointed and there wasn’t anything seafood except for one item called fish sayadieah. I was expecting to see tiger prawns/lobsters but none was the case.

Saudi Arabian dishes were a highlight to me as not often I come across them in Dubai. There were a few eye catching Saudi dishes prepared by their dedicated Saudi Chef. Some of them are as above including a dessert which is a Saudi Arabian version of Kunafa. It’s basically made with bananas and cream. It tastes a lot different but really nice. The Egg plant fata was really good and Saudi Mandi was the first mandi where I saw noodles mixed with rice with a full sized baby lamb sitting on it.

I thought I was in heaven when it came to desserts. They definitely get an A+ here. I am a big fan of Arabic desserts and Boulevard Kitchen Iftar buffet had everything to keep you happy from Kunafas, baklawas, mafroukeh, znoud el sit, Halawet il Jiben etc. Basically they have mastered Kashta right and very rarely you find Iftar buffets treating to Arabic dessert as good as a professional Arabic sweets shop. There were also other Moroccan and Turkish delights. You’ve also ready seen the Saudi Kunafa above. They also serve international desserts and the red velvet cake is a must try here.

The other surprise was their frozen yoghurt which comes mix with chocolate. I usually ignore the softies and ice creams but fortunately one of my guest brought one of this to our table and after the initial tasting I just couldn’t help but go get one for myself. I just can’t express my liking to this awesome frozen yoghurt combined with chocolate, please do try it when you are at Boulevard Kitchen.
