TEATRO – interiors

Just when I thought there wasn’t much to fancy to eat in AbuDhabi, I end up in Teatro Park Rotana which enlightened my senses with some electrifying dishes. Teatro seems to have specialized in not just one, but 5 different cuisines Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Italian with overwhelming attention to detail and quality. Tonight’s dinner has been a great one and a restaurant that I highly recommend to try if you were to visit AbuDhabi anytime.

They’ve got a smoking and non smoking area. The interiors are surely going to dazzle you with their sophisticated art and chic lounge and a dining area that is lit up with pure white and crystal chandeliers, with elegant wall papers that cover the ceiling and stage curtains to add to the TEATRO theme. It’s the  setup for a perfect moment.

We were thrilled from the beginning with their drinks. They served us different kinds of Mocktails and each one of them came with a one of a kind presentation. Most fascinating one was the mocktail that came in an Indian Tiffin Box. I admire the thoughts they put into presentation. Partly their presentation makes these drinks very appealing, Although I would say these Mocktails were not sweet enough.

Som Thom salad - AED 45 - Bangkok green papaya salad
Som Thom salad – AED 45 – Bangkok green papaya salad

The only one salad we tried at TEATRO was the Som tum salad. The moment I put the first spoon in, it was burst of Asian flavours. I just loved every bit of it of that tangy, salty, chilly, sweetness. It is a mixed bag of spices.

The Dimsums were straight forward delicious. I prefer the money bag for its crispness but I have seen better shaped money bags though. I think they can improve on that. The skin of the grilled kalbi beef rolls were thick and chewy, the sweet soy dip plays an important role to add some flavor to the roll. Infact, It just tasted blank without it.

The starter that we drooled over was the jumbo sized juicy Wasabi tempura prawns, the wasabi mayo dipper was a great side to these absolute juicy prawns. The passion torch roll sushis came on a beautiful plate and it gets a 5/5 for it’s pretty display. They also tasted great with a perfect balance of rice, tuna, salmon, avocado. The only item that really didn’t get my interest was the Teryaki glazed chicken wings. Somehow I couldn’t taste the freshness in the chicken, it could be the glazed teryaki effect.

Red chicken curry - AED 80

The Red chicken curry happened by chance. I was at their Kitchen counter and I suddenly see this Red Chicken curry ready to be delivered to one of the tables and I just said to myself I need to try this for sure. This delicious rich thick spicy curry was out of the world. We were completely mesmerized by it, even though they call it spicy. It’s the right level of spice which you are able to enjoy. Two people can adjust with it, you  just need to buy additional rice as a side. I highly recommend this curry to anyone at Teatro.

Miso Seabass - AED 180 - Chilean seabass marinated with miso
Miso Seabass – AED 180 – Chilean seabass marinated with miso

The chilean seabass was luscious. You would love the marination on it.  The accompanied soft but crusted potatoes was an interesting side. The only disappointment would be the size of the seabass which was quite small compared to the price.

Spinach Linguini - AED 80 - Basil-cilantro pesto, artichoke, sun dried tomato, prawns

Tonight their special menu were the pastas. We tried spinach Linguini and was simply magnificent. Just when we thought they might excel just in Asian food, here we are amazed by their Italian cuisine. The dish was well prepared and as exciting as a Pasta could get.

Then came the attraction of the day which was a giant Big show dessert that simply filled up our table. I think everybody around us was curious about what just came on our table. AED 95 is a good deal for an experience like this, with around 6 desserts along with fresh fruits coming in this platter. The desserts were mainly Asian but my pick would be their Creme brulee from the lot 🙂 oh and I almost forgot to mention that this platter actually rotates. So my kids enjoyed rotating it as much we enjoyed eating them.

Good bye biscuit
Fortune cookies

At the end as a kind gesture we were given these fortune cookies which actually had a message inside it. Usually you get these along with your receipt. The messages we got were about luck and love. At the end we are truly happy to be have discovered this gem of a restaurant at Park Rotana, AbuDhabi. Kudos to chefs who have managed to offered the best of 5 different cuisines(Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese Sushi and Italian). We haven’t tried all of their cuisines but surely we’ll come back for more. Click here to visit their official website. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
