Me with Seafood, Lamb & Chicken Feast – AED 169
Kulfi – AED 19

Most of you who love Indian food should be familiar with Zafran. Two famous branches for Zafran in Dubai would be the one at Marina and the other at Mirdif City Center. Today we are here to try out their newly launched Feast menu:

  • The Vegetarian Feast – AED 119
  • The Chicken Feast – AED 139
  • The Lamb & chicken Feast – AED 159
  • The Seafood, Lamb & Chicken Feast – AED 169

The interiors of Zafran is very different for an Indian restaurant. Modern with a touch of fashion sense. I love the seatings next to the wall. Although the restaurant looks very open if you manage to grab the seats next to the wall you should feel in a private space of your own in this wide open restaurant.

Complimentary starters – Pappads and Pickles
Complimentary pickles

As expected, As soon as we ordered came the complimentary Papads and Pickles. Besides the classic green chutney, rest of them like the green and yellow gets into rotation and you may find something else tomorrow on the table with the Papad. Mind you these variety chutneys and pickles really make an impression on your taste buds. To me the beetroot was a fall out, I just didn’t enjoy as much as I expected it.

Mocktails – AED 19 – From left – Very Berry, Kiwi Mojito and Mango Passion
Tender Coconut Water with ginger and Honey – AED 22

You can’t ignore their pretty looking mocktails. We couldn’t get tired of sipping their Mango Passion and Very Berry Mocktail. Although Kiwi Mojito was not bad at all but to be honest you couldn’t go wrong with any of them. The Tender coconut was surprisingly not very moving. It looked authentic on the table but it wasn’t as real as I expected. Maybe the mixture of ginger and honey kind of spoils the original taste of coconut water.

Appetizers – AED 28 – From left Dahee Kebab(deep-fried yoghurt and coriander dumplings) and Mushroom Kurkure(Mushrooms stuffed with green pepper and cheese battered and fried)
Appetizers – Dahee Kebab and Mushroom Kurkure
Inner of Dahee Kebab(deep-fried yoghurt and coriander dumplings)

The amazing little appetizers had a huge impact at our lunch table. We enjoyed dipping these freshly fried hot kebabs into those specialty sauces. The Fried Yoghurt Kebab is the one you shouldn’t miss to order. They were just scrumptious and a melt in the mouth which had a rich stuffing of cheese. Mushroom Kurkure felt a little dry as opposed to the Dahee kebab.

Feta and Rocket – AED 25 – Crumbled feta and wild rocket with a balsamic honey dressing

I am a big fan of rocket leaves and this salad was all about that. I think I can just have this and be very much satisfied with my lunch. Beautiful bowl of salad which felt so good in the tummy and plenty!

Seadfood, Lamb and Chicken Feast – AED 169 served with Dal Zafran, butter Naan, Fresh Salad, Dill Labneh, Spicy sauce & Pickled Hommus

The real highlight was the feast. We went for all in one combo where we got a combination of Fish, Prawns, Chicken and Lamb. An exciting platter filled with best of meats. The interesting part was how the marination was very different from one meat to the other. So you are not just experiencing different kinds of meat but also different flavours that’s running in your mouth at the same time. The jumbo prawns and Lamb was an irrepressible treat in the platter. We just wanted more of them.

Dal Zafran, a part of Seafood, Lamb and Chicken Feast

Mint Paratha – AED 8 and Garlic Naan – AED 8

Let’s not forget the accompaniment which were the Dal and 3 different types of dippers that elevated the feast to the next level. About the dippers, I must say that the spicy sauce was too spicy that you really couldn’t enjoy as much as you wanted, it literally would put your tongue on fire. The Labneh was pleasant, cooling and most easy going. The pickled hummus was very different and didn’t feel like a hummus actually, although it looked very much the same.

Dessert Platter – AED 31 – From left (Rasmalai, Gajar Halwa, Kulfi, Gulab Jamun)
Kulfi – AED 19

Clearly, the Dessert platter is the one to go for if you wanted to try the best of everything. Although I can tell you they have reduced the portion size of the desserts in the dessert platter in the new menu. It was still an amazing plate of authentic Indian desserts which we can never get tired of eating. Our Feast couldn’t have ended on a better note. Click here to visit their official facebook page. • Hey, I haven’t ordered Vegetarian Feast that day so I wouldn’t be sure what comes in the Vegetarian platter. I know Paneer is one of the items in the Veg platter. Yes, it’s high time I run a competition ;). Will try to arrange one once I am back from vacation.
