Finally here’s a restaurant that’s born in Dubai. Probably my first post on a restaurant that’s originated in Dubai. Fume serves international cuisine to extremely high standards of quality and taste. This would be the perfect one- stop- shop for all those who want to try different cuisines at one place. Producing wholesome food from around the world, Fume Downtown Dubai is their second branch; the first one is at Pier7, Dubai Marina. Fume, a young, healthy, trendy restaurant seems assured of a good future and many more awards should follow.
At Fume restaurant we sat next to the glass wall so we could enjoy the inspiring views of Downtown like the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. Valet parking service is available for Fume customers at Al Manzil Hotel. Fume interiors are modern and British. It’s a two storey restaurant and naturally the top floor has the better views.
From the drinks the Apple & Elderflower Mojito is the one to go for. Absolutely refreshing with a burst of brightness and sparkle. The raspberry mule is a spicy drink with ginger in it and something you’ll appreciate if you are into a less sweet mocktail. Plentiful and ideal for sharing, the clear soup came out really well. The 3 pieces of wonton dumpling were generously sized and delicious too.
I was a little doubtful if I would like it when I saw the Tuna tartar but it was in fact stunningly good. The creamy, flavour-rich avocado guacamole was delicious too. The deceptively simple looking x-rated Fume salad was a delightful surprise to me. Packed with healthy vegetables which tasted so great I felt healthier just eating it!. The charcoal roasted tiger prawns were one of several highlights for us that day. Freshly prepared, they tasted as if they’d just leapt right out of the sea. We placed each of those tiger prawns on our plates, peeled them and ate them with a touch of lemon and herbs. It was seafood at its best. Highly recommend you try this one.
The salmon that was cooked on white oak chips arrived crisply skinned and extra tender. Roasted so that it easily flaked, I loved it. The grilled Portobello mushrooms were king sized and the garlic dressing made those mushrooms just irresistible. Lamb Shank Fateh was tender, juicy and flavoursome. A delight to the eye as well as the stomach thanks to its presentation of pine nuts, pistachios, yoghourt and tahini sauce
After years of unwrapping Snickers bars from the supermarket, I couldn’t believe I could now be treated to a freshly made Snickers bar at a restaurant. It tasted exactly like the original except this one’s fresh out of the oven. They’ve got different types of naked jars for dessert and I tried the banoffee as that’s the in thing today. I was especially happy with the bottom half of the banoffee naked jar dessert which consisted of crushed toffee nuts; the top half mainly consisted of whipped cream and bananas. The Fümé chocolate brownie is made fresh daily. It was a light cake with a chocolate and caramel filled hollow centre. The homemade ice cream was terrific. You should ask for their Dulce de Leche ice cream; it’s a killer
Here’s a smoothie from their breakfast menu. The breakfast menu, which includes smoothies, is only available till 12.00pm. I was here the next day a little early so I managed to get this smoothie as I had missed out on it during lunch hour the previous day. They also have drinks under the category Fümé Liquid Fixers which is more to do with detox, high energy, performance enhancers etc. Drinks that are healthy and tasty.
