Just rejuvenated myself with our first stayacation for the year 2016. Traders Hotel is actually a part of Shangri-La Hotel and located together in Qaryat Al Beri complex, Abu Dhabi. The first beauty when we entered our suite was the divine space and luxurious feel. There was sunlight pouring into our room from our balcony which had the best view of the beach and the canal. I always look forward to the welcome treats when I enter a new hotel on my first day. This time it was a treat of baklawas and fresh fruits. Special write up messages from the senior management of Traders Hotel left on our writing desk makes us feel wanted and cared.
The sitting area had comfortable sofas where we spent fun time playing board games and full sized writing desk which included stationary made it perfect space for me to work comfortably when needed. Ofcourse they had all the additional PC/laptop/USB charging ports as required. I did forget to bring my iphone charger, fortunately the hotel was able to arrange me a spare to use.
The bathroom is quite spacious with a separate shower stall which they call it the monsoon shower experience. The double wash basin was quite handy for a family of 4. Kids had a bubble bath in the full sized jacuzzi bath tub. What’s important is they make our lives simple with enough towels provides at all the right points. The usual luxury toiletries were found as well.
I must admit we had the best view in the house. A fantastic view of the canal where we could see the Sheikh Zayed mosque from a distance and often boats passing by the canal. Sunrise and sunset scenes from our balcony were breath taking. Also I could just peep down and see my kids playing on the beach.
For media and Entertainment the following were present.
- Every morning I would have the Newspapers delivered at my door and that too both of them(khaleej Times and Gulf News)
- DVD player
- In-room magazines
- LCD television
- Satellite / cable television

The health club and the swimming pool are on the same terrace adjacent to each other. The swimming pool has an attached bar. Private beach was a lovely setup which was closely connected to the hotel. They also provided necessary tools for the kids to play in the sand and water. So Kids were most of the time busy getting water, digging sand and building their own sand castles.
Then came the exciting part where most of us look forward to in the early mornings during hotel stays, breakfast! Firstly they serve a wonderful looking cafe latte as you can see above and you should have this beauty on your table to wake you up. Breakfast is served at Afya which is the heart and soul restaurant for Traders Hotel. All food found in the hotel comes out of Afya’s kitchen. Breakfast was international. We found Asian, Middle Eastern and English breakfast.
They had a good collection of croissants and muffins. The croissants were freshly made but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. I prefer the croissants to be as light as possible and should easily melt in the mouth. The chocolates croissant was my favourite, thanks to the lovely chocolates in the chocolate croissant. They serve you hot pancakes and waffles with different types of syrups. They had a cheese station and other cold cuts that you could enjoy. The musseli along with the granola was mind blowing. I just love this combination and the granola specially was scrumptious. I give an A+ for this one.
Afya is a long spacious restaurant where we could be seated inside or outside facing the beach. The cold is strong in the morning that we preferred to be inside the restaurant. There was ample of space and there wasn’t any waiting for seats required. The kids play area was also closely located to the restaurant so they would run away to play as soon as they were done with their breakfast.
The hot section for breakfast was much better. Specially the Asian and middle eastern category. The stir fried beef, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken were all a good start for the day, although a little aggressive start for me in the morning.
The soup station was interesting. They had a long list of pick and choose items for your soup. I’ve had soup on both days of my breakfast and it was yummy. The second day soup was quite thick and spicy, reminded me of an indian curry than a soup. Soup station does a good job and has been very satisfying. Although not often I have soup during breakfast but the cold weather and their soup was a great match.
I love the ending tradition they have at Traders Hotel where on the last day every guest gets treated to a hearty dessert at the end of their breakfast.
