It’s always Fridays in here! I love this tag line from TGI Fridays and yes Fridays are always welcome in Dubai. TGI Fridays the casual dining American restaurant in Dubai has now come up with a brand new section called wood smoked plates to entice our taste buds once again. Basically the flame grilled meat is smoked on an apple-soaked hickory wood plank to give that special touch and that’s the specialty of the new offering.
The wooden interior is grand at TGI Fridays in Dubai Mall. A typical American style seating and arrangement. American inspired posters and wall papers can be found all over the walls. I just love their terrace. They’ve got the best view in the house facing the dancing fountain, Souq Al Bahr and Burj Khalifa. So you can either opt for the scenic view or be cozy eating inside the restaurant.
They’ve got a long list of interesting drinks. To me the Lady Lynchburg was the better drink out the 3 we tried. The chocolate milkshake wasn’t very convincing and I thought they really need to make an improvement specially when milk shakes are best made by Americans. But don’t worry they’ve got so many good looking mojitos and other shakes that you should find something right for you in here. The complimentary warm dense loaf was a joy to eat and the right bite to begin with.
The wood smoked mains were the highlight of the day. Both the Salmon and the Steak impressed us well. You can’t be disappointed with any of these. Nothing you feel apple about the apple-soaked hickory wood plank but they are grilled well to be mouthwatering. The wood smoked chicken was a little disappointing. It didn’t have enough flavour to entice our taste buds, it was a little dead in taste. I definitely want to try the wood smoked ribs next time. All these mains have a common topping of savory herb butter which was ambrosial. Usually you get default sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli but you can always change it for some other side like their yummy fries. Their sides were delightful.
2 items I want to try from TGI fridays next time without fail would their wood smoked ribs which looked irresistible from a distance and their jumbo sized onion rings which again I didn’t realize they serve them until I noticed them later on a different table.
The trio desserts is heavenly for a chocolate lover. Even then I’d say there was only one appealing dessert from the trio which would be the hot molten lava cake with cold ice cream that was luscious and we all fought till the final piece of that delectable molten cake. The chocolate brownie was quite hard to enjoy and the chocolate cake reminded me of the same one that we get at KFC.
