The Grand Iftar at Grand Hyatt just got better than last year with some really nice arabic dishes introduced for this year’s Iftar by some of the finest Chefs of Grand Hyatt, coming together to treat you to a tantalizing middle eastern food. Although a few international selection can be found, majority has been middle eastern. The rate for Iftar at GrandHyatt would be AED195 per adult which includes soft drinks.
It all begins with hot breads, cold appetizers and a healthy salad selection. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were and I never felt better in the tummy for an Iftar start. I love how the hot breads come warm, round and fluffy. All their cold dippers have been well made, thick and just perfect in taste. The one that I could not resist and often went after was their Muhammara. Very authentic when it comes to taste and quality.
As usual the hot appetizers came with it’s own charm. It’s always these hot appetizers we usually end up eating the most during an Iftar. They had plenty of selection but I could only take pictures of Cheese sticks and Falafel for you. By the time I had their cheese sticks and falafel, I forgot about the camera and just focused on eating for sometime :p
The usual Arabic grills were there. The lamb grill was tender and had a good touch of flavour. There were also mains from other regions in the Arabic world. Like you could find the famous Iranian rice that comes with pomegranate which is a little sweeter in taste. I remember eating chicken Molokhia. Curries which comes with a combination of curd, meat, vegetables etc. Basically they’ve got some of the regions best for you to try.
I love the sweet ending here. It didn’t look appealing to me at first but every bite of their arabic sweets made an impression especially the Mafroukeh. The only one item which I thought they could do better was their english vanilla/chocolate cake which tasted ordinary out of the lot. The Arabic sweets are the ones to go after here at Grand Hyatt Iftar.
