Here’s a brunch review that you don’t want to miss. Buckle up to your chair and read my review on my exiting Airways journey with Departures Brunch at Dusty’s, DIFC. It’s one of those brunches that defines a weekend. Life is a celebration in here with loads of laughter, romance, music, dance, singing, smoking, eating and drinking like never before. Service has been great and cheerful. It’s that brunch that made the afternoon brunch feel like a late night party. The Brunch is only on Fridays from 01:00 to 04:0pm starting at AED 200 with softdrinks.
The airline themed brunch is one of a kind in Dubai. I guess this is what they call a unique selling proposition. It all starts with we getting our boarding passes over e-mail once the booking is confirmed. We pass through metal detectors as if we were in a real airport, the Airways crew receives us at the entrance and take us to our seats. Don’t expect the restaurant to look like a plane though. The restaurant is packed and you need to reserve well in advance to guarantee a confirmation for their Friday Departure’s Brunch. I’ve tried twice and once even on a Tuesday and they told me they were already fully booked for this Friday. Such is the demand for Dusty’s Departures Brunch. Valet parking is covered for Dusty’s customers at DIFC.
For brunch it’s unlimited food from their 2 page Al carte menu ranging from nibbles, small bites, Salads, Pasta, Main course, drinks and desserts. The portion size is smartly mini sized so not to waste in excess and we also get try more across the menu. Considering the crowd, I was quite impressed to see they were able to deliver food to our table with not much delay. The cuisine is international.
Get set to see plenty of celebrations here. I’ve seen at least 5 candle lit cakes passing by me during my brunch here. The best part is the fireworks that comes with the cake which really makes the celebration look Grand. Enjoyed watching those electrifying cake fireworks throughout my brunch. Music was as it’s best. Hit singles one after the other. Heard many songs from my school days which were all awesome. They had one amazing DJ this day.
We had fresh juices for our drinks. The Cheesy Garlic bread and Spinach Hummus came from their nibble to share section of the menu. The bread was fresh and tortilla chips dipped in the well made spinach hummus was a fine combination to start our brunch. It was a nice treat to share on the table.
Burrata – fresh Italian cheese, topped with roasted peppers basil & olive oil
What you see above all came from the small bites section. It indeed was a small bite but had a big impact on their brunch. To me this was the best part from their brunch menu. Starting with their Wagyu beef burgers. The inside and the outside of these Wagyu beef burgers were impressive it wasn’t just about the succulent juicy beef inside it but the quality of the bun was also commendable which was first class, the bun never tasted better.
Lobster Taco was another interesting one where the Taco was very thin and crispy and you bite it to unleash the combo creation of lobster, mango, avocado & coriander. Tacos were just fab I tell you. They’ve done a very good job with beef Carpaccio as well. It was just thin slices of beef and rocket leaves that was so good in the mouth that you wanted more of it. The Rock Shrimp Tempura was quite puffy. You feel more of the skin than the shrimp in it but when you dip them in those chilli mayonnaise then you literally can’t resist it anymore. Buratta was ok, I wouldn’t call it the best I’ve had. It was just decent to me.
All the above were our main courses. The steaks and the fishes are not be missed here. The portion size for the fish was quite small though, I also regret not trying their signature Black Cod. I realized it when I saw it later in the menu. The steak came already pre-cut so it was quite handy for us to share it but they were really nice and tender. I am sure you agree on the same as you see it above. Chicken was well marinated and had a nice spice to it. Fries were a great side. From the whole menu the one item I really didn’t enjoy was the only salad we tried which was Quinoa salad. Maybe my taste don’t go so well with healthy salads.
I made sure I tried all their desserts from the menu. Firstly, I was a little unhappy seeing my favourite breakfast so called French Toast in the desserts section. It just makes you feel so guilty. It’s much more easier to eat a French Toast when you see it in the breakfast section :p I thought their French Toast was worth trying atleast once. The trio of brulee was just luscious. The Mango Brulee was my favourite here. The candy station for sure was the excitement. Everybody dipping those little pieces of accompanies into the hot chocolate fondue and having them together was fun. If I had to suggest on anything then I thought their marshmallows could get better from the lot. It just didn’t taste original.
Thank you folks for reading through my post of Dusty’s Departure brunch. I hope I was able to give you an insight. They definitely do work hard in giving you the best experience by constantly introducing new programs in different weeks to entertain you. Like for this week they had introduced a saxophonist which wasn’t there during our time at the Dusty’s Departures Brunch. So you never know what’s in store for you.
