The Friday brunches are turning out to be the best part of a Friday in Dubai. Each restaurant comes out with their own theme and hospitality. For this Friday we have just attended the latest brunch in town called the Prohibition Brunch introduced by the Bazxar Restaurant & Lounge located at DIFC. The Friday brunch at Bazxar treats you to a global adventure with cuisines from Asia, Mediterranean, US and Latin America.
The Prohibition Brunch is every Friday at Bazxar between 02:00pm to 05:00pm starting with a package of AED 295 which includes selection of mocktails, fresh juices, sodas & water. Good food, fantastic service, loud music and a great crowd that brings in glamour to Bazxars Friday brunch which will surely uplift your Friday vibe.
Bazxar DIFC – Interiors
Bazxar has two sides to the restaurant. One side is the casual side and the other is called the dining room. For the brunch both sides were open and I would definitely prefer to be in the cozier dining room. The entire Bazxar interiors is a blend of wood, brass and steel. The seating are designed for all sizes from couples to bigger groups of diners. Music is played throughout the brunch and it get’s louder closer to the end.
They have only two types of Mocktail which was Mojito and bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was not for everyone I tell you. It was a blend of tomato, lemon and pepper. The Mojito was way much enjoyable and the preferred Mocktail on the table. We also got a freshly squeezed orange Juice.
STARTERS
They had 5 different types of starters on their menu, all of them which you could eat as much as you wanted.
- SHRIMP “POPCORN”
tempura of baby prawns/chipotle ranch dipping sauce - CRISPY MAC-N-CHEESE
house-made pickle relish - CHICKEN BAO
soy-garlic glaze / scallions - AUBERGINE BAO
sweet soy glaze / fresh kaffir lime / peanut / red chilli - HOUSE SALAD
It all started with their Shrimp pop corn and Crispy cheesy macaroni balls. I tell you both of them were just fabulous. The crisp and taste specially the shrimp pop corn when you dip into that chipotle ranch sauce, it was unbelievably good. The shrimp popcorn was the most ordered starter on our table. We surely made the most of it. The best part was how quickly they managed to deliver our orders to our table. A super quick service.
Chicken/Aubergine Bao was nothing but steamed rice buns with stuffing of either the soy-garlic glazed chicken or the Aubergine. The glazed chicken was definitely the better from the two. The steamed rice bun was puffy, soft and a perfect companion and can easily fill you up, so beware as you’ve got many more dishes coming. The house salad was a touch of Fattoush which I really enjoyed.
ENTREES
They had 4 types of Entrees:
- BLACK PEPPER BEEF
rice or noodles / bean sprouts / broccolini
cucumber / peanuts / fried shallot - SOY GLAZED CHICKEN
rice or noodles / peanuts & cashews / lemongrass
green onion / water chestnuts - BURATTA PIZZA
fresh tomato / basil / olive oil - ROASTED CHICKEN PIZZA
mushrooms / pesto / bechamel
The roasted chicken pizza was scrumptious, thanks to it’s quality bread. The well baked pizza as you see above came hot which was cheesy, gooey, meaty and that kind of pizza you would really appreciate for it’s quality. The black pepper beef was better than the soy glazed chicken when it came to noodles from the Entrees uection.
MAINS
By the time we finished enjoying the starters and entrees, we were so full that we couldn’t even think about a main for sometime. But ofcourse we didn’t want to miss it at the same time. The surprise attraction was the veg main which was the HUEVOS RANCHEROS, a combination of fried eggs / black beans / guacamole chipotle salsa / tortilla / cheese. Mixed them and it just turned out to be the best tasting dish on the table.
After you’ve already had the noodle entrees, the mushroom linguini might just be an over kill so if you really have only one choice of main, you might as well pick something different. The Grilled fish looked as if the fish was on diet, lean and didn’t honestly look very attractive. But once we tasted it, we were quite impressed how fresh and crisp it was. The burger bun was fantastic. Soft and just would melt in the mouth. I enjoyed eating the chicken that came with BAO than the one in the burger. The minced beef burger was lovely. The steak was nicely presented but was expecting it juicer.
DESSERT PLATTER
Then came the sweet ending 🙂 No doubt the dessert platter is as tempting as ever. But overall the dessert platter didn’t have the bells and whistles as their Entrees, starters and mains. They could make a change here if they wanted to make any improvement for their Friday Brunch menu. Click here to visit their official page. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
