Last weekend we stayed at the famous FIVE star hotel in Alain called Danat Alain Resort which has been there in Alain since a long time. An old hotel but luxurious accommodation at an affordable price nestled with every green beautiful gardens spread across the Resort which includes the best in class swimming pool for families, good restaurants and lots of space for kids to play around in the Resort makes it an interesting proposition. The resort is also located in a close proximity of some of the prime spots in Alain.
Lobby – Danat Alain Resort
The resort is very easy to locate. Both google maps and the car navigation was spot on. When we reached the hotel reception in the afternoon for checkin there was a slight queue at the reservation desk. While we waited we also noticed a Tea lounge cafe at the Lobby, So we stopped over for a quick refresh after a long drive from Dubai to Alain.
The Tea Lounge at the Lobby had an interesting collection of Japanese tea so we made sure to try them. It was served the traditional way and was the right drink at the right time. Their giant oat cookies were my next favourite here. Their coffee also came accompanied by a lemon drink which was an unusual combination.
We were then escorted to our villa from the Resorts main entrance. We followed the buggy that took us to our Executive Villa which had it’s own Private parking as well as a private garden. The private garden faces the green fields of Danat Alain Resort. Nothing like sipping a hot drink in this cold weather sitting in your own garden. Just wished I had them all the time 🙁

This would be our pathway to the hotel from our villa. It’s a 2 minute walk that would take you to their swimming pools and the main hotel. They have around 22 furnished villas over looking the hotel garden or the swimming pool ranging from one to two bedroom villas. The villa is clean as such but the furniture is quite worn out and it’s high time they replace some of them. You could see the stains on the sofa, cuts on the wooden furniture etc. Typical wear and tear for one of the oldest resort in the city.
The water park was the best part for us at the Resort. Swimming was never this much fun in a resort. They provide you towels at the end of your swim and plenty of seats laid out around the giant swimming pool for you to relax. They also have a professional swimming pool for those who take swimming seriously. Don’t worry if you didn’t bring your swim wear as they have a store inside the resort that can help you find one.
There is a special Friday Brunch at the Pool which is quite reasonably priced. There is no better place to have a buffet counter than at the pool where you are really hungry and thirsty after a good swim and fun in the water.
For any thing you want to buy they have a nice handy store inside the hotel that can help you find all those last minute purchase. Infact we bought our kids swim wear from this store. They’ve got all the necessary items covered so you should be reasonably safe and most importantly moderately priced!
Kids have lots of space to run around and play. They’ve got a bouncy castle. They’ve got slides and swings in the sand next to the swimming pool or if they don’t like sand then they have the same facility in their lush green gardens.
They have a 24 hours gym with standard facilities. One of their gym face the swimming pool so you get to see the kids play while you are you on the thread mill.
Ofcourse one of my favourite part in a staycation is a morning breakfast at the Hotel. The breakfast happens at Arabesque restaurant which usually serves international cuisine. Yes, the breakfast was international where you could find American, Arabic and Asian for breakfast.
The busiest station was obviously the LIVE egg station where they cook egg your way. There was a little waiting here otherwise there is no other rush found at the morning breakfast buffet counters.
Waiters were a little slow and it was difficult to catch their attention. We had to follow up at times or even get up from our table to get hold of them. The tables also needed a better cleaning. After the first batch get’s up then table is not kept clean enough for the next family as we could still find the stain in certain areas of the table so that’s something they need to improve especially during the busy hour.
The only fresh juice was actually Orange. Rest of the juices were packaged juice. Coffee is good and English breakfast tea with warm milk is provided separately in case you like to have tea with milk.
Banquets, Meetings and Conferences
They do have plenty of meeting rooms equipped with contemporary audio visual equipment. A king size ballroom that can accommodate atleast 900 guests and is a preferred venue for conferences and wedding. Some of the services offered:
- Wireless internet services
- PC | Laptops | Printers | Fax machine | LCD projector
- DVD Player | Audio visual system
- wireless Microphones | breakout rooms
- Stage lights
Oh yes, and we can’t forget our final lunch at Luce in Danat Alain Resort. Luce is located next to the pool and usually people enjoying sitting outside the restaurant in their swim wears sipping a drink or a nice good meal. The Flat bread was amazing. Highly recommend to try this one. The steak was decent. The burger was juicy and those king size fries that came along with it made the meal look grand. Kids loved their Pasta as well.
Also there was this interesting Antique shop located inside the Resort. Things were really antique and genuine, felt like I was in a museum. You can buy them as well, so don’t forget to stop over this one. You are going to love this store. Oh and it was located right opposite to Tanjore, the Indian restaurant where we enjoyed our dinner. You can read all about Tanjore by visiting my previous post here. Click here to visit the official website of Danat Alain Resort. Click pictures to see them in fullscreen view:
