The all new Audi Q5, the premium SUV from Audi which tries to excel in comfort, style, technology and dynamics. I would pick the word ‘comfort’ here for the new Q5, that would be one word best to describe my experience with it. The driving technology embedded in the car makes driving this SUV with ease. I wouldn’t want to race with this one but rather just drive it slow and relax through the drive. The new model design feels more compact in size(from the outside), yet has no compromise compared to the previous model. The new Audi Q5 start at AED 192,000.

One of the interesting feature I like about the new Q5 was the air suspension system. Using the Audi drive select mode you could choose different height levels which allows to manure any bumps or dunes on your track. The body can also be lowered by upto 55mm for more convenient loading by pressing a button in the luggage compartment. Let’s also not forget the standard Audi drive select feature available across all their models for an efficient, comfort or a dynamic drive.
As expected Audi never disappoints when it comes to design. The new redesign of the Audi Q5 is more of a tone down of the previous model. The dynamic indicators, daytime running headlights, the sculpted radiator grille and those short horizontal lines around the SUV makes a pure statement on the road and makes it stand out from the crowd. One of the striking feature that people notice are the lights of the vehicle which is the Audi Matrix LED headlights and the dynamic indicators. An Audi logo is projected on the floor whenever you open the doors of the vehicle which makes quite an impression to anyone.
Leather steering wheel in 3-spoke design with multifunction plus
Although most would appreciate the interior design, I wasn’t very convinced with the quality of the materials used inside. Somehow the inner materials used for the dashboard and the inner door handles make it feel cheap. I know you can pay more and get a better custom interior fabric but I think for the price it should deliver a minimum quality standard that shouldn’t compromise the overall quality of the vehicle. I thought this one space they needed to take care, especially when Audi is considered a luxury SUV and they don’t come cheap either.
The center console was my favourite. The gear is unique and smartly designed which is short and wide enough to rest your palm comfortably on top of it. The Audi MMI touch tracker next to the gear makes it easy to navigate through the menus. The handwriting technology is quite handy especially when you try to search for locations on maps.
It has a built in smart notification system which is quite handy specially when the fuel goes low or even when phone battery is low on charge. It is a nice reminder that pops up on the center console.
The ambient lighting adds a wonderful touch to the ambience inside the vehicle. The ability to change different colors is a delight and really sets a tone in the vehicle. I personally believe the ambience package is worth the purchase.
Audi virtual cockpit
The Audi virtual cockpit is shear pleasure to watch. A fully digital instrument cluster with high resolution 12.3 inch screen that displays a wide range of information in crisp clarity. No matter which lighting condition, you still can have a look at the details with ease. The color graphics makes the details so pretty too.
The beauty about having a virtual cockpit is you could customize the view of the instrument cluster they way you like to see and infact you can have a full screen view of the entire maps if needed on your screen. Your instrument dial would still be visible but in a smaller dial. I love the color and contrast, the visual display is done brilliant for an instrument cluster. Navigation is made so easy with the Audi virtual cockpit.
The panoramic sunroof gives a wonderful view of the whole sky specially when you are sitting behind but not a great idea to have it in the summers. The Aircondition does take some time to cool the vehicle if parked in the sun. The chrome lining finish on the back vents adds a nice touch to the design and the easy to use temperature controls does help. The leg space is decent, you can comfortably sit behind. The trunk space is spacious enough to fit in all that you need. The child door locks can be conveniently controlled from driver seat.
Blind spot warning from the side mirrors is helpful and is clearly visible compared to other cars where Ive noticed the indicators are too small to be noticed quickly but Audi has indicator lighting big enough for you to notice easily while you drive.
