Gurkan Sef steakhouse is pretty famous for their aged steaks. But today we are here to try their new breakfast menu which has been a grand experience. My stomach feels the best always after a Turkish breakfast. The early morning visit to the restaurant with family, sitting between their wooden crafted deluxe interiors has been a rich morning experience. It’s an elegant restaurant with not much crowd in the mornings. The breakfast is a set menu with unlimited Turkish Tea.
You can’t complaint about the interior. They’ve spent quite a bit to make it as comfortable and as elegant as possible. I love their leather seats, designer wooden chairs and tables. Lot of seatings for the outside. They didn’t even compromise on the toilets. That’s one place you need to check out as well. The interior decor get’s an A+.
You have unlimited Turkish Tea for breakfast and is a pleasant company through out your breakfast. They were also kind enough to frequently ask us if we needed to refill our tea. The Mocktails here come very fancy. They are presented very nicely as you can see in the pictures. Although the Mocktails had interesting ingredients, from taste perspective they were just ok.
The breakfast came together in one shot. We started our breakfast with fine milk breads and having them dipped with olive oil and balsamic was a sheer pleasure. The classic Turkish bread, Simit were freshly made and was served hot. Simit was so well prepared that you could just enjoy them by itself. The cheese pastries were appetizing and we just couldn’t resist them.
The cheese and the dippers were really the highlight for us from the Turkish breakfast at Gurkan Sef. We enjoyed each one of those unique quality dippers such as the homemade jam, honey and cream and milk Jam. The different variety cheese were really nice specially the white crumbled cheese topped with strawberry jam. The hot starters had feta cheese inside them. Over all their cheese spread has been impressive and you would love them even if you don’t usually eat cheese.
The Menemen (a Turkey special) which is made of onion, garlic, green pepper, eggs and tomatoes is the ultimate main in the breakfast set menu. The dish has a nice flavour and you can call it a Turkish version of Shakshuka. The cold beef ham with dry fruits and nuts was simple, yet a pleasing delight.
There is no way we can leave a Turkish restaurant without their desserts. They serve one of the best Baklavas and it comes stuffed with their freshly made ice cream, it’s just a delightful experience. I thought one slice of baklawa was too little, they probably should serve one more slice for the price to be fair. Simply can’t enough of this slice, It’s luscious as ever.
