1life is a bright casual restaurant and cafe located at the Dubai Design District. The food counter is famous for its stretch of salads and desserts, most notably for it’s variety salads that is on a daily rotation. You have plenty of healthy options and off late they’ve added many more vegan options in their menu. Their menu is all about using nutritious and natural ingredients. We tried a little bit from their all day breakfast and main menu and have been thrilled. They also have a cute cafe on the side were quality coffee is made. One of my favourite hot drinks here would be the hot Spanish latte.
Apart from the indoor and outdoor dining spaces, they also have a mezzanine floor where events are hosted and is a casual meeting place for most artists around the area. Love the wooden tables, they make the flat lay photography look so good. Also 1life kitchen and cafe is located opposite to the car parking which makes it convenient.
We started with a nice hot coffee. Coffee is a must try at 1life as they make quality coffee that you can appreciate. They have an interesting collection of cold drinks, Our mix fruit juice was really good and a burst of freshness. No artificial flavours, just real juice. The Peanut butter smoothie was fantastic except the smoothie wasn’t cold enough. They bake fresh croissants and we tried the almond croissant. The croissant was flaky and sandwiched with almond paste in between, the almond paste was very different in taste and there was something unique about it.
The salad counter is the well known and not to be missed at 1life. They are available in two sizes, small bowl where you can mix 3 different salads or regular salad where you can have 5 different salads together in a bowl. You can always add protein on the side for an additional amount. Side selection for your salad would include grilled chicken, Salmon, Halloumi cheese, Avocado, shrimps and even steak. Our salad bowl tasted amazing and enjoyed eating it. Also note they have certain promotions running in the afternoon where you find the same counter at half the price! Just keep your eyes on their Instagram page.
The gluten free pancakes was different in texture and taste as it was gluten free and was using oat flour unlike the classic pancakes. The berry compote came lavish on top and really made a big difference in taste to these healthy pancakes. The homemade brioche was the best part about their french toast and ofcourse the hazelnut chocolate sauce made from their homemade cacao was just addictive. The grilled banana that came with skin was interesting and went as a lovely combo with the French Toast.
The beef burger was definitely a highlight on the table. It came with a steak knife and chunky fries on the side. You also have the option of skinny fries. The beef itself was quite big and chunky and we loved everything about it. One of the most satisfying burgers you can have. The bun was also light and fluffy, although it felt big in the hands.
They had an interesting collection of desserts at the counter. Their cheese cakes were tempting but alas we finally decided to try the Flourless chocolate cake. I personally felt it could get better. Firstly the chocolate cake was a bit too hard, probably it was served too cold. But there is plenty more at their dessert counter that is enticing and surely you should love something in there.
