CMP is a casual American restaurant from Chicago known for their finest cuts of steaks & other grills. You can find a variety of USDA certified and A grade beef on their menu. We were invited to try the Jazz night which happens every wednesday. CMP has two floors, the ground floor is the quite and cozy spot to have a nice meal and the top floor is where you have music, drinks and a terrace with an amazing view of the Palm and the dancing fountain. It’s American, so you can be rest assured of eye catching food and a healthy ambience at the restaurant. The leather seats, chairs, sofa, the wooden flooring, plants, wall posters, rustic walls, different lightings all made a difference to the look and feel, sets the right tone for the evening. This is what we first loved about the restaurant, we loved it just by being in it, before we even tried their food. I would say it’s a fantastic place for a get together with friends and family. The restaurant feel brands new.
Starters were exciting and different from each other. We started with their fried cheese curds which was made from aged cheddar cheese. Those crispy fried cheese balls came crispy and you can hear them in every bite. The red sauce that accompanied the fried cheese balls made them taste even better. We then tried a unique side which is the crispy brussel sprouts. Although I am not a big veg eater, we all loved this side. It stayed crispy throughout the time and something about the tangy soy dressing on this green vegetable that made it very addictive. The carpaccio was typical but then again loved the grated cheese and pecans on the tenderloin. Light but made right.
For mains, we tried one of their famous steaks. As expected they were juicy and had a nice flavour to it. The beef was to be appreciated for being tender, flavour and it’s succulent feel. Loved the accompanied fries on it which felt fresh and a natural potato. The corn fed chicken tasted different. Maybe it was it’s marination, but there was definitely a unique taste to the chicken. The chicken sat on a bed of risotto which was yummy and filling.
We then ended our fine dinner with a pleasingly rich sticky toffee date pudding which came with a wonderful ice cream on top. The creme brulee was a pleasant dessert but I felt the sticky toffee date pudding stole the show. CMP is definitely worth a visit if you love American food, best part they have a wonderful setup at The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah. Click here to visit their official website.
