The all new Lexus RX comes with an all new design with a standout signature spindle grille, exquisite jewel-like headlights and wide LED Blade taillamp. The RX 350h offers a 2.5-liter electrified hybrid powertrain, delivering 246 HP and 233 lb-ft of torque with fuel efficiency. There is no lag in power when you drive this hybrid version and it was quite satisfying especially compared to the previous generation RX hybrid. The interior tech is now upgraded to the advanced and latest features and one that stood out was the wireless apple carplay which wasn’t possible with the previous gen models. No more wires and no more clutter, your mobile phone can remain in your pocket. The Lexus RX 350h starts at a price of AED 285,000.

The inside as expected is a typical Lexus with luxury at it’s epitome. Seats and arm rests on the door are all wrapped in leather and soft fabric. Lexus car key design remains the same. The leather wrapped steering wheel also has a slim wooden touch to it’s design at certain angles and feels good to hold. The new feature in the steering wheel would be the touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel. As soon as your thumb is on it, you would see the controls popping up on the head up display. Left side is dedicated to radio and phone calls, while left side of the controls are dedicated to the instrument cluster. The gear knob is now mini in size but is a little challenging to shift gears from R to D as you need to maneuver the little gear knob from right to left and vice versa. It takes a little time getting used to it. The latest RX still has dedicated buttons for AC and audio controls which is very handy. Wireless charging hasn’t been impressive, it takes a very long time to charge the phone and it also heats up the smart phone. Besides the 2 usb-c ports provided in the front, the new model still have usb-a port available which was quite pleasing to see.

The standout feature inside the vehicle would be it’s electronic handle to open the doors. The new RX don’t have any handle but just an electronic button to release the lock and push away the door to open. It’s first of a kind, so expect passengers taking some time to understand the dynamics of the new release mechanism as I noticed not everyone who got in the car figured how to get out. Passenger seat on the right can also be electronically adjusted by the driver as there were dedicated passenger seat control buttons on the side of the seats of the passenger. The passenger also had their own dedicated buttons for memory seats (upto 3 passengers). The wooden finish found on the dashboard and in the middle has a gravel feel while you touched it which gave it a natural feel. The fire extinguisher found in the front of the side passenger felt a little out of place. The cup holders were a good size and could be adjusted to firmly hold the cup. The 40/20/40-split rear seats can fold down to help accommodate larger objects. You could also open the luggage trunk of the RX by waving your feet underneath, thanks to the kick sensor.
