MezzaLuna – Trattoria Italiana – InterContinental Residence Suites Dubai Festival City
We all love Italian food and eating at an authentic restaurant is always a pleasure. This gem of a restaurant is hidden at the Intercontinental residence suites located opposite to the Lexus showroom at Dubai Festival City. You really wouldn’t know about this restaurant until someone told you about it or you stayed at the Intercontinental residence suites. From the time you step into the restaurant you know it’s Italian. The writing on the walls, the table cloth, the pizza furnace, the oil bottle on the tables all indicate Italian cuisine and it’s heritage. The restaurant also has a store inside which is a quick grab and go option of their gourmet food. They have a wide collection on their menu from starters, salads, soups, pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, mains and dessert.
We started off with their traditional starters. On the table came the complimentary bread and it tasted wonderful to be eating homemade bread especially when you have them with the oils provided on the table. A nice premium olive oil and balsamic vinegar could be found on every table. The hot fried calamari was addictive, the dipper had a big role to play as well. You dip with mayonnaise sauce provided on the side and it becomes irresistible. Beef carpaccio finished before I could even realize it, those razer thin beef tenderloin can never be enough. The Burrata salad was all about the Burrata cheese, so pure to its taste.
The pizza is a must try at MezzaLuna. They make the pizza in front of you and is a good size. Don’t forget to ask for some chili oil to spice up your pizza. The pasta was delicious and the best part was the parmesan cheese shredded on top LIVE. They come to you with a giant slab of Parmesan cheese and have them grind on top of your pasta until you say stop. Our lunch couldn’t get more exciting. For the Vegetarians, we highly recommend to try their eggplant dish which comes in an iron cast with garlic bread on the side. The garlic bread was no ordinary, it was light and crispy. We actually wanted more of this garlic bread as they were too good with this dish.
The ending was even better with their signature Italian desserts. Tiramisu was just perfect with a blend of espresso, cocoa and cream, nor was it too sweet. The vanilla panna cotta was premium, probably one of the best we’ve had with fresh fruits and the fruit puree on top mixed with vanilla was luscious. The almond semifreddo which is more like an ice cream cake was special, we never to get to see this dessert often and we loved this one very much. I think we couldn’t ask for a better ending to our lunch. They were highly satisfying desserts at Mezzaluna. Click here to visit their official website and see their menu.
