Geely okavango

This would our first review of a Chinese car and Geely has been visible on Dubai roads more often now a days. So it’s not a bad idea to explore one of them and see what they have to offer and what its’ like driving one. The Okavango is supposed to be the biggest SUV offering from Geely. A family sized 7 seater vehicle with 2.0 litre Engine delivering a horsepower of 218. The top of the range model is only priced at AED 107,500 which is a steal deal for a car that is luxurious, spacious and high in technology that also includes touch LCD screens, wireless charging and infotainment systems.

Interior

The first time you sit in the vehicle you appreciate the space and the luxury offering on the inside with a great taste in design. Power start the vehicle and you see the digital instrument cluster lighting up with all necessary information including the status of the tyre pressure of each individual tyre. The drivers easy exit feature allows the driver to easily enter and exit the vehicle as the seats automatically go backward and forward accordingly. The funny part is that steering wheel adjustment is not electronic. The wide ventilated leather seats are comfortable and perfect for a long drive. The arm rest is pretty relaxing and the storage underneath wide opens with a single press of a button. The cup holders exist like any other car but what’s interesting was the modular compartment in the center allowing you to align the storage space accordingly to your need. Besides the electronic hand brakes and gear shifter, you also have a dedicated button to change your driving modes(sport, comfort, eco). There is an array of buttons dedicated to the AC vents which is good to see and most often needed. The front passenger also has a nice storage space for their handbags or any other, just underneath the gear shifter.

The vehicle is big in size and it drives smooth and easy with no lag noticed on pickup or initial acceleration. The steering wheel could have been better, the design is great but the alignment felt something not right. It just wasn’t the best positioning is what I felt. The vehicle has a good driving mileage too. You get atleast 650 kms on a full tank. It easily offers one of the best value for money for it’s features and capability. Big families should look into Okavango as an option. The panoramic roof is super wide and rear passengers should definitely enjoy this one.
The 12.3-inch infotainment display and distinctive double-layered central channel design helps you easily toggle between menus. The 540-degree HD panoramic camera HD cameras were amazing and really handy when parking this big SUV. This is where you really appreciate technology.

There is plenty of leg room for the rear passengers but no cup holders for rear passengers. Also the AC vents temperature can’t be adjusted by the rare passengers. Reading lights are available. USB-A charging ports are available but no USB-C charging ports. There is plenty of room for your luggage if you pull down the third row seats.
