Starters & Appetizers: A Taste of Tradition

Iftar begins with traditional dates and these were giant Majdoul dates. Each of us got 2 kinds of cold drinks, one being a sarbat and the other their traditional Turkish laban called Ayran which felt so pure and good for a fasting stomach. A thick lentil soup, a Ramadan staple, is smooth and aromatic, offering a comforting start to the meal. The meal begins with a rich variety of appetizers spread on the entire table, including creamy dippers such as hummus, tabbouleh, beetroot mouthabal and different kinds of salads. The salads provided were unique in taste and something new to our palate. Some of their appetizers had a kick of spice which was really good. One of my favourite hot starter would be the fried Kibbeh Ufra, simply amazing! My mouth just waters when I think about it.

Maincourse

The mixed grill platter, featuring a selection of juicy kebabs and chicken, also delights, offering a variety of textures and flavors that please every palate. Each person got their portion of mains in a plate unlike the appetizers which came as sharing. The kebabs were unbelievably good. The shredded beef looked the most enticing. Nevertheless the meats can never disappoint here. With meats such as lamb, beef and chicken all in one plate you can’t be happier. Like the appetizers even the mains came with a touch of yoghurt on the side.

Dessert – Güllac
Dessert – Tres leches
Turkish tea

You have 2 kinds of dessert and the milkcake provided was one of the best you can experience. Gullac also being their signature dessert, a layered rice pastry with a balanced touch of sweetness soaked in milk. You also get their signature hot Turkish tea which was the perfect ending to our fine Iftar at Sirali. Click pictures below to see them in full screen:
