Most people recognize Dusit Thani for it’s iconic structure on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai and I admire the architects behind this hotel.  This time we stayed at their Abu Dhabi branch, very much a tall hotel which lives and breathes spirit of a true Thai like all their other hotels. The five star hotel treats with you Five star luxury and hospitality. Hospitality has been warm, inviting, caring and very much a Thai affair.

Our room was a Junior Club Suite and one of the benefits that came along was access to the Dusit Club Lounge. Club Lounge came with loads of privileges and one among of them was the Private check in and check out facility. So we didn’t have to face any queue or waiting at the public reception of Dusit Thani. Just directly walked into the privileged Club Lounge floor, checked in and got our keys right away.

Our room Club Junior Suite definitely felt luxurious and there was Thai in every inch of design. They very much try to keep it traditional. There is a feel of premium in every aspect of the room. Be it the bed, carpets, sofas, marble, flooring; you would feel hosted in an exquisite room of quality materials and furnishing. But suite wasn’t really spacious. It was small and compact.

Club Junior Suite standard facilities would include:

Noticed the wooden cuts of the master bed(resembles a Thai home). When it came to television entertainment, they scored an A+, it was just outstanding. Firstly they provided a host of useful and interesting channels which was worth a watch. Secondly they provided you access to complimentary high def movies and you could even find the latest ones. This was one of the best conveneince we had when it came to watching movies at a hotel. Watching movies was just a breeze here. Easy to naviagate, you could even watch a trailer before selecting the movie which was available on both televisions(Master bed and Living room).

The Club Junior Suite are found on higher floors of Dusit Thani and so the view we had was breath taking,  a little scary if you fear heights. Watching from a height we would find the Abu Dhabi islands on one side and the Abu Dhabi city on the other.

The prayer mat here you see was one of the prettiest I’ve seen. I also needed an Apple charger and they provided me the original Apple charger and cable unlike other hotels where they would provide me a third party charger.

So when it came evening we made sure we didn’t miss the evening special at Dusit Club Lounge, which was the complimentary Evening mocktails and hors d’oeuvres from 17:30 – 19:30. But they strictly don’t allow any children in here during this time. I specially loved their Eclairs and mango mousse from the desserts. From the mains except for the Sushi’s nothing gave me a wow effect. They are also willing to make you something if you are looking for something in particular.

The Fitness Center at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi is one of the best I’ve seen. Spacious, lots of high tech equipments, class rooms and ofcourse the usual steam room, sauna. The thread mills are sophisticated and has lot of interesting features for fitness enthusiasts. There was even a dedicated bicycle classroom session. They also have yoga classes. Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi definitely has the best in class gym facilities for a hotel. The good news is that their Fitness Center is also accessible to the residences and not just limited to hotel guests with different monthly packages and benefits.

One of my favourite part about going between floors was using their glass elevator where we have a wonderful view of the floors while we go up and down the hotel. The height is a little worrying when you look down from the hotel hallway from higher floors. I was more comfortable looking down the floors inside the elevator rather.

Breakfast at Dusit Club

Complimentary morning breakfast was always available at the Club Lounge from 06:30am to 10:30am. There would be a stretch of croissants and bread as soon as you enter for breakfast. The LIVE cooking station was busy making eggs the way we wanted. French Toast and pancakes were made fresh for us with plenty of toppings available. If there is something they could improve, I’d say they need to serve better tasting coffee. Since Dusit Club Lounge access was only to privileged guests (depending on the type of room) there wasn’t many people so you could quietly read the early morning newspaper and enjoy your breakfast.

Breakfast at Urban Kitchen

Ofcourse as you can see the real breakfast happens at their all day dining restaurant called the Urban Kitchen. Primarily serving international cuisine along with LIVE cooking stations for different kinds of eggs, waffles, pancakes. They had a neat collection of asian specialities and love the full blown collection of their fresh croissants which was tasting fresh and just out of the oven. They do have a wide range of fresh juices but they also serve specialty drinks like the date and banana smoothie which wasn’t as great as I expected.

On their terrace they had their temperature controlled swimming pool. They had a mini version for kids as well. Kids swimming pool came had a bonus which was a mini water fountain to play with. Also loved the Cabanas that was provided for all the guests using the pool. Luckily they were not always occupied you could always get one. Even though you have a scenic view from the terrace you don’t have direct access to the view from the Cabanas but just the sky and the pool.

We ended our stay at Dusit Thani at Urban Kitchen with their Saturday Buffet. The pastas made from the LIVE stations were amazing. The mexican dishes were enticing.
