Iftar at Zefki felt like eating at home. The moment the elevator opens it’s doors to the restaurant you will be looking around with curiosity, transported to a different world of stylish homely decor. Zefki specializes in Levantine cuisine and we have been marveled with their beautiful looking and tasting dishes which is one of a kind. If you love eating Arabic food and want to see it from a different angle then Zefki is the restaurant to visit. The set menu Iftar for AED 115 consists of the following:
- Dates & Ayran
- 1 Soup
- 2 Cold Appetizers
- 2 Hot Appetizers
- 3 Mains
- 2 Desserts
- 1 Ramadan drink
They had dates ready on every table along with a magnificent Ayran. The Ayran was cold, thick with a balanced touch of mint. The drink was refreshing and honestly it gave a fantastic start to a fasting body.
They had a fabulous line up of Ramadan drinks. These drinks were true to taste and we really could enjoy each one of them. The drink that really stood out for me was the Vimto, Vimto never tasted so good. Vimto fans are going to be thrilled sipping this one and was the only drink with soda in it which also can fill you up easily.
The soup was just fine, nothing extra ordinary about the lentil soup served here.
Hummus is one of the star attractions at Mezzeh. It comes in the three variants. Classic, Beetroot and Avocado Hummus. Loved the thickness and the quality of their hummus, I was more in love with their Avocado version of hummus, probably it’s because I find them rarely in other restaurants. Love how the breads come here. You are offered different types of bread and surely to be enjoyed with the dippers.
The salad was loaded with cabbage and lettuce, the dressing was pretty good in the salad which made it enjoyable.
Not very often you find these hot starters. It’s not just an ordinary falafel, it’s the ZEFKI falafel and that’s what makes the difference. These falafels were literally irresistible, thanks to the special filling of cheese which was a surprise in it and also let’s not forget the special sauces these Falafels come in. The Cigara Borge was again a fried special filled with little cheese. It’s actually a very hollow and light starter, you can actually feel the oil around these Cigara Borge but simply couldn’t stop with one.
They had 3 mains in their Iftar package which I thought was too much. The grills comes interesting on a raised wooden plank. The kebabs on it was succulent and juicy. The sheesh taouks were not bad either with a nice touch of spice on it. The hummus that comes as a side for this Grill was flooded in olive oil and I felt this hummus was even better than the previous one. Zefki really has mastered the art of making a good quality hummus. Also along with the mixed grill comes 2 pieces of Arayes.
The Fish dish was just fabulous. The fish was light and no bones, so was easy to eat and quick to finish it. The rice that came filled with nuts in it was a lot and considering the 3 mains, they probably could have reduced the rice quantity even further.
The chicken inside the chicken Molokhia was a little disappointing as it was a bit too chewy. Didn’t find it tender enough. Lot of leaves in the Molokhia otherwise and if you enjoy the taste of these leaves then this healthy dish should be good for you. The vermicelli rice was plain and simple, and is the right combination for a strong flavored Chicken Molokhia.
They had only one real dessert which is the Oum Ali and I can honestly say this was one of the best Oum Ali we’ve had. It was really good and highly recommend this one to try. The fruit platter was one of the prettiest we’ve seen. We really appreciate how well the fruits were cut and nicely presented together.
They make good coffee and have specialized in coffee art. So expect some fancy art on your coffee here. The Turkish coffee was really good and very satisfying. Click below pictures in full screen view:
