We loved the interior of the seafood restaurant. Every inch of the restaurant has a story to tell. A spacious restaurant where you could opt to sit inside or outside the restaurant. Outside the restaurant, you get beautiful views of Palm Jumeirah. Fresh fishes are also kept out in the open if you preferred to pick a fish from their Ala Carte menu.

Ramadan drink – Jallab for Iftar
Lentil soup for Iftar at Ibn Al Bahr
Salads – Fattoush & Tabouleh
Hummus & Moutabal for Iftar at Ibn Al Bahr
Hot Mezzeh – Hot Potato & French Fries

Iftar begins with dates found in a small bowl on every table. After which we received the thick Lentil Soup which was really good and it comes along with toasted pita breads. The traditional salads Fattoush and Tabouleh had to be there in this Arabic seafood restaurant, I really enjoyed the Tabouleh very much. I thought they also did a good job of presenting the Tabouleh very nicely. The hot Mezzeh was really different, the hot potatoes were outstanding in taste. The French fries was different, not the usual suspects here. It’s something you are going to enjoy for sure. I think it would have been also better if they provided different variants for hot Mezzeh instead of having the same item(potatoes) as both options. The dippers for these potatoes has been the ketchup. The hummus and Mouthabal from the cold Mezzeh were true to taste and of great quality. They provided toasted bread and plain bread which we could use for these fabulous cold mezzeh.

Mains at Ibn Al Bahr for Iftar
King Fish curry and Rice for Iftar at Ibn Al Bahr
Sayyadieh for Iftar at Ibn Al Bahr
Fish Biriyani for Iftar at Ibn Al Bahr

Then came the real game. We must admit the mains have been mesmerizing specially their fish curry. The fish curry was thick and rich, accompanied by plain white rice. The fish found in all the mains had been King fish. Being a seafood restaurant, I thought they should have provided different kinds of fish in each of their main instead of using one kind of fish for all their mains. Nevertheless, it didn’t matter as we were enjoying their mains. The biriyani was another tantalizing dish with it’s special masala which is the magic of this dish. The fish is found hidden under the rice marinated in masala. Sayyadieh is supposed to be their famous dish which comes with grilled fish and accompanied by a special sauce that you pour on top of the dish. To be honest, the flavors from the previous two dishes(fish curry and Biryani) had been so strong and flavorful that the Sayyadieh felt lighter in flavor. Although we still were happy with this dish, we would still recommend to try their fish curry and biryani first!

Kullaj Dessert
Dessert- Arabic Bouza with cotton candy

The Arabic Bouza ice cream with cotton candy on top was a real mesmerizer. The dessert was simply addictive and these ice creams were different as they were tough in texture and would stretch like a chewing gum, they tasted different too. The Kullaj was a fried dessert stuffed with cream. You kind of feel guilty as you feel the oil in this dessert but otherwise it is a luscious one. They also serve good coffee and it comes pretty as you see below.

Overall, it’s been a satisfying experience at Ibn Al Bahr as their seafood  menu introduces a new taste, nutritious and a healthy one. Our stomachs never felt better after Iftar.
