Aqua restaurant at Rosewood Abu Dhabi serves a plant based buffet, avoiding milk and eggs as well. The vegan buffet consists of different plant based dishes starting from breads to Appetizer, Soups, Salads, Gourmet Burgers, Gluten-free Pasta & desserts . Vegan is the new trend and Vegan nights at the Aqua restaurant would be an interesting one for those who look forward to only Vegan dishes. The lavish spread is made up of at least 40 plant based dishes. Vegan Buffet at Aqua restaurant is every Sunday from 07:00pm to 10:30pm.
A spacious restaurant located inside a beautiful hotel. You can sit inside or outside in their balcony with views of tall buildings at a distance. Although they had enticing fresh fruit juices, they were not covered in the AED 180 buffet package. I thought this would be a turn off for most diners and the drinks should probably be included in the package. The entire menu is spread across a single buffet counter and the desserts could be found on a separate table. The restaurant is not crowded and good enough space for your own moments.
We started with the hot fried vegetable tempura. It was mainly onion rings, sweet potato, cauliflower. They were really nice and crispy. They also had sauces available for these hot starters. Ofcourse they couldn’t go wrong with salads. You will find interesting and unique salads here. The crispy kale was one of my favourite sides.
Loved the mains here. It’s interesting how the menu is still delicious even after restricting to just vegan content. It also requires creative skill to come out with so many attractive mains in the menu without meats. In short, the mains have been promising and you are sure to be enjoying many of them in the menu. Some of those you see in the menu would probably be for the first time and this was the best part about attending the vegan night as it was a unique experience. It’s not the regular food we expect. One of my favourites was the stuffed pepper. The stuffing in it felt like meat, even though there wasn’t any meat in it. The Mexican Chilaquiles would be a favourite for many which consists of Nachos, guacamole and tomato paste and a kids favourite for sure.
Sushi was like a star for the night. Almost everyone went for it. They tasted great and I guess this was the only familiar dish for many.
The key highlights from the mains would be the Japanese soba noodles and the burgers. The burger buns came in different variants and the patty although didn’t have a single piece of beef in it, looked like a beef burger. It has a typical taste of a veg burger but what really was even better would be the soba noodles which I would rate as my no.1 favourite at the vegan buffet night at the Aqua restaurant. The soba noodle is made in front of you after the selecting the ingredients. They are served cold and they were delicious.
To be honest, this is where I thought the vegan buffet needed to improve as the dessert collection didn’t have the bells and whistles to make a long lasting impression. I am sure the vegan desserts here can get better. The kunafa topped with caramelized pop corns would be my pick from here.
