IBN AL BAHR has been one of the most satisfying Iftar this ramadan. After eating plenty of meat this ramadan otherwise, this would be the first restaurant were we managed to eat quality FISH meal for Iftar. One of the top restaurants that need to be in your list if you enjoy seafood. This time for Iftar they had a set menu that consisted of the usual ramadan beverages, Arabic coffee, soup, hot and cold Lebanese starters, followed by a selection of mains that consisted of seafood or chicken/meat and most importantly they provide you the best desserts an arabic store can offer in your Iftar package, which is the Cheese Kunafa and Turkish Baklavas with ice cream.
If you didn’t know IBN AL BAHR, the restaurant faces the beach and breaking our fast at the restaurant has been a unique experience, as we were seated by the beach. So obviously we sat on these beach benches with sand at the bottom and you hear continuous sounds of the beach waves. It was a beautiful experience especially when you are here during the sunset. The only funny part is you can’t here any kind of prayer Azan in this area nor any prayer hall at Club Vista Mare and moreover there is continuous music in the background. This was the only limitation in ramadan but otherwise all was good. Even though we were all spread across the beach, the waiters were attentive and always available at our service. After sunset every table had a floor lamp to illuminate their private space.
The 2 of the Ramadan beverages they provide has been really nice. The Jallab was the much better one though. The cold starters have been straight forward if you know what to expect from a Lebanese restaurant, but we were impressed with the vine leaves provided which really was alluring like never before. Probably one of the best made stuffed vine leaves we’ve had. The cheese rolls were hot and crispy and kids just wanted more of it. Tajen Samak was an interesting appetizer which had fish in it, I would say this was my favorite from the cold dippers. You also feel good in the stomach when you eat these healthy starters for Iftar.
We went all fish for the mains as IBN AL BAHR is a specialized restaurant for fresh fishes. The Kibbet Samak Aranbiyeh was a delicious one where the kibbet had a stuffing of king fish dipped in thick tahini dressing. We just loved the rice that came with grilled fish for Sayadieh. We never got to see a full sized fish in our main though, they came as shredded in the mains.
IBN AL BAHR doesn’t compromise on the sweet ending and offers their Iftar diners with the finest Arabic desserts possible which is the Turkish Baklava with ice cream and cheese Kunafa. You also have fruits on the side which were a big cut of watermelon slices. The joy in our eyes was like no other when they came to our table. The cheese Kunafa has been brilliant where the cheese would just stretch and easy to consume, the carrot shaped delectable Turkish Baklavas were split open to fill in the ice cream provided on the side and nothing like this dessert if you truly appreciate a quality treat.
