Iftar at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa has been a warm and inviting Iftar at a luxury space. A wide open Iftar buffet featuring an array of exquisite dishes which are middle eastern, Indian and International favourites. Live cooking stations, dedicated Kids Corner, cold cuts, cheese section, specialty dishes, plethora of curries and desserts make it an exciting Iftar. Iftar is hosted at the luxurious Palm Kitchen restaurant which is decked by Marble from head to toe. The marriage of marble’s intricate patterns with modern simplicity creates a visual dichotomy inside this restaurant.
Iftar at the PALM KITCHEN is AED 215 per person including Ramadan juices. You can get a discount for group bookings.
The Palm Kitchen restaurant at the Taj hotel is a grand one. A long, tall and airy restaurant which has it’s buffet neatly spread on one side and guests seated on the opposite side. It was a peaceful Iftar and felt like a perfect spot for an intimate dinner. There is no compromise on quality, be it with seats, cutlery, tissue box and service. You would often see the Chefs supervising the buffet station. The meeting room above is converted to prayer room for the evening.
For drinks you have unlimited Jallab/Tamarhind/Laban or watermelon Juice. The watermelon juice was really good and I think almost everyone went for the same more often. The salad counter was just beautiful. You had the best collection of salads and this section is what I capitalized the most for Iftar today. They also had a good selection of breads especially the focaccia which felt freshly baked. We had the traditional arabic hot starters which was the Lamb Kibbeh, meat sambousek and falafel. Falafel add on was a change from the typical cheese starter which we usually see in other buffets. They had 2 kinds of soup, chicken and Lentil.
One interesting part about eating at the Taj was the amazing collection of Indian dishes for Iftar. We haven’t come across an International Iftar buffet that had so many collection of Indian dishes from chaats to curries. They also had a dedicated counter for vegetarians. This was a well balanced buffet for both vegaterians and non-vegetarians unlike other buffets. Some of the highlights have been the pretty looking Dahi vada and paneer(available as grilled and curry). I could also see many of the tourists fascinated by the Pappads. Surely this is the restaurant you want to be if you want to enjoy some Indian variety spices.
There were plenty of meats available in different forms. The Lamb Ouzi station was a self service station and you could happily cut the best parts of your choice. They had LIVE shawarma station serving chicken and cheese. Although they call it a shawarma, the shawarma was no where like the classic Shawarma. More like their own version of Shawarma. I would still prefer eating the classic shawarma. There is a long stretch of mains and I’ve put some pictures of some of the favourites of mine above, especially the Chicken Tagine with olive and lemon that had a unique and great flavour to it.
The desserts gave a perfect ending. There were mainly Indian and Arabic desserts and some amazing little pastries especially the mini chocolate cake. You could also find fresh cut fruits which was a little away from the dessert counter. The fruits felt disconnected from it’s main venue. We were impressed with the cheese kunafa, finally we found an original cheese kunafa at an Iftar buffet where we could feel the cheese in it. The Indian sweets were also a highlight especially the Cham Cham sweet and Besan Ladoo, although both of them were a little too sweet but it was worth every bite. They also had the traditional hot sheer khurma(Indian sweet) which was really good. There were plenty of other puddings and baklavas too. Click here to visit their official website.
