Design

Polestar 2 has a clean and neat futuristic design. In the front you see an unusual plain face with a sensor which they call as a smart zone that assists the driver. The rear light of the Polestar 2 is an attractive piece of light strip that will harmoniously dance whenever you unlock or lock the vehicle which is a fancy feature that catches attention of anybody around. The side mirrors have a unique design by having it frameless which makes it look slimmer than usual, probably the coolest looking side mirrors on a car. One of the most attractive part of the vehicle are those Brembo brakes. They are actually high performance brakes with a unique design of drilled discs and that amazing yellowish golden color. The matching yellow seat belts are also an attraction with an amazing nappa leather ash designer seat cover that make the car really stand out for it’s vibrant color contrast.

Inside the Vehicle

The interiors are a combination of wood, leather and fabric. Love the wood finish which is a light ash color and the best part of it having a natural grain finish, so you really get the feel of wood when you touch it. The seats are even more impressive. An eye catching design which matches the theme of the electric vehicle. If you were to go for the high end package then you end with beautiful designer nappa leather seats. The upholstery is surely one of the industry best. A ventilated zinc color nappa leather upholstery along with the light ash deco wood interior makes it a great combination. The white ambient lighting that contributes to the interior atmosphere, gives the cabin a special vibe in the night. The seating have got the signature volvo ergonomics which gives optimal support for any driving situation. The seats are electrically adjustable four way lumbar support. Memory seats upto 6 drivers. You also have ventilated rear seats. The vehicle is entertained by Harman Kardon audio system which I found it crisp when played music over bluetooth. The audio system is neatly hidden inside the cabin. The full length panoramic roof makes the inside feel more airy, but the roof top cannot be open.

Driver profiles

Polestar 2 can automatically store preferred settings for up to six drivers, linking the information to the signal from the key fob or the Polestar app. Upon detection, the in-car software recognizes the driver profile and loads the matching seat position, mirror adjustments, steering feel, and one-pedal drive settings. It’ll also bring up favourite apps and playlists.

Charging speed
Polestar 2 works with AC charging points up to 11 kW and DC charging points up to 205 kW. You can have an AC Wallbox installed for effortless charging at home and is compatible with charging stations on the road. Polestar 2 comes with Google built-in, the in-car version of Google maps can communicate with the car’s systems to check the battery status. It will calculate and suggest a route accordingly, including convenient charging options along the way. Recharge while slowing down by regenerative braking technology. Instead of turning useful energy into useless heat, the regenerative braking system of Polestar 2 converts it back into power that can be used to extend the car’s range. You can also pre-heat or pre-cool your vehicle while charging which can save significant amount of battery power instead of starting the climate control only when starting the drive. The Polestar 2 battery pack is contained within a steel and aluminium frame to reduce the risk of damage in the event of a collision. If Polestar 2 detects that the car has been in a collision, its advanced safety technology immediately takes action. The battery pack’s high voltage system is automatically disconnected from the rest of the car, significantly reducing the risk of damage to the circuitry.

Customize your drive

You could also change the behaviour of the driving dynamics in the car. One new driving feature which I experienced was the one pedal drive. So if you wanted you could have both brake and accelerator on one pedal. But honestly, it wasn’t a great experience or maybe it was getting used to how it works. The moment you step on one pedal, it would accelerate and the slightest release from the pedal would brake the vehicle. It sounds very convenient in theory but in reality I wasn’t getting a flawless braking experience.  I would still prefer to have the brake and accelerator on separate pedals. You also had the option to adjust the steering wheel firmness. Driving in the busy streets, you want to keep the steering wheel setting light to feel it easy.

Safety

Polestar 2 uses three radar units, five cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors to monitor its environment. The car’s Active Safety Domain Master computer processes their input to classify different road users and traffic situations and help prevent collisions.

SmartZone

As Polestar 2 doesn’t need a grille to breathe, it’s been replaced by the SmartZone, housing a camera and a powerful radar. It allows the car to detect other road users and potentially hazardous situations, assisting the driver in all weather and visibility conditions. The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) detects vehicles that are about to pass and flashes a warning light in the frameless mirrors.

Run-off Road Mitigation

Less risk of leaving the road. If Polestar 2 accidentally strays towards the road shoulder, Run-off Road Mitigation helps steer the car back at speeds between 65 and 140 kph

Lane Keeping Aid

Active between 65 and 200 kphLane Keeping Aid corrects the course of the car if it comes close to crossing a lane marking without indicating. If the steering intervention doesn’t correct the course enough, a warning also sounds. The system can be turned on and off via the centre display

Oncoming Lane Mitigation

If Polestar 2 crosses a lane marking and heads into the path of an oncoming vehicle without the driver responding, Oncoming Lane Mitigation issues audible and visible warnings, and helps to steer the car back. Oncoming Lane Mitigation works between 60 and 140 kph and can always be deactivated by the driver.

Parking sensors and assistance

Polestar 2 uses its cameras and sensors to help make navigating narrow streets, corners, and parking spaces easier and safer for those inside and outside the car.

Parking assistance

Cross Traffic Alert with auto brake

When reversing out of a driveway, parking space or around a corner, Cross Traffic Alert warns about incoming cars, cyclists, and pedestrians. If the driver continues to reverse, Polestar 2 automatically applies the brakes.

360° and rear-view cameras

When maneuvering, Polestar 2 can show a bird’s-eye view of its surroundings on the centre display. Four cameras provide 360° visioncentred around a virtual image of the car to help the driver navigate tight spaces.

Driver Alert Control

Polestar 2 helps its driver to stay sharp. Driver Alert Control uses a camera to track the car’s path in relation to the lane markings and activates audible and visual alerts if it detects signs of driver drowsiness or distraction.

Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation

If a car comes too close, it rapidly flashes all the indicators. If it senses that an accident is imminent, the system pre-tensions the safety belts and applies the brakes.

Active High Beam

The headlights automatically switch from high beam to low beam when sensing the headlights of approaching vehicles or the taillights of cars directly ahead.
