The most notable exterior character would be the long Wheel base 3100mm and the king sized kidney grille. This would be the biggest Kidney grille to have been designed by BMW. Also to be noticed is the electronically controlled engine cooling vents which automatically open and close as needed, this feature was first introduced in the BMW 7 Series. The sleek twin head lights which extends upto the grille adds more glamour to it’s good looks. The LED headlights come as standard whereas the BMW laserlight with Adaptive LED headlights is an option. BMW laserlight in a unique X design illuminating a range of upto 600m which is nearly twice as conventional headlights.

M specific Exterior

When inside the vehicle, the first thing that captures anyone’s attention would be the signature diamond / crystal looking gear shifter made from glass. The glass shifter is transparent and also glows in the dark. It’s an amazing design and surely adds that special touch of elegance to the interior. Next to it, is the polished mechanical knob that can be used to access the menu on screen which I enjoy using more often than having to stretch my hands to touch the screen. The top of the mechanical knob is used as a writing pad. It’s a joy using technology in this car and has been very convenient from a driver’s perspective. The storage compartment in the front is where you also feed in fragrance cartridge for the vehicle. BMW sells 8 different fragrance for the vehicle which can be purchased separately. Also interesting was the temperature controlled cup holders which you could set to be cold or warm. By default, there is also a wireless charging space for your mobile phone.

There is a pleasure in holding and using the aluminum door handles and buttons. The inside of the X7 is mainly a trim of aluminium and leather. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system does a good job of distributing sound well inside the car and literally you find the speakers fitted almost in every nook of the car possible.

Love the digital display in the cockpit. The color display is crystal clear and shows details well under any sunny condition or bright light. The Head up display that is presented on the windscreen has been the best we’ve experienced. The details were neatly visible on the windscreen without seeing any other shadow of the projector. The head up display is in color as well. Driving dynamics is standard with ECO PRO, COMFORT, SPORT modes.

The ambient lighting is one of the best you can see. The ambient lighting includes door handle-area lighting, illuminated driver and front-passenger vanity mirrors, front footwell lights, front and rear reading lights. You can choose to upto 12 predefined selectable interior light designs. The best part would be staring at the illuminated Panaromic glass roof with a stretch of tiny LEDs representing like stars from the sky. It’s an amazing view and sets an amazing tone to the night ride.  There is also an inviting welcome light carpet displayed on the floor(outside the vehicle) as soon as you open the door of the vehicle in the dark.

There is plenty of room for front and rear passengers. When it comes to seat settings, there is a standard 16-way power seat functions, plus additional power adjustment functions for shoulder support, thigh support, plus 2-way manual lateral adjustment for Comfort headrest, and memory system for driver’s seat and front passenger’s seat. Second and third row seats are fully electronic and can be operated using buttons available in the boot. With a single button click you could have the entire seats arranged for more space. All seats including the front passenger seats would be adjusted electronically by the system to make more cargo space.
