Muchachas is a Mexican restaurant in Dubai, hidden in Al safa inside Holiday Inn Express hotel. From the outside you know it’s all Mexican in here. The interior is lovely with pastel colors which adds a lovely vibe to the atmosphere. Dishes have been colorful and gives a true taste of Mexican flair along with rejuvenating Mocktails that has a nice punch to their drinks. They currently have a Business lunch package which we were invited to try which includes a choice of starter, main course and a dessert along with a soft drink or water, from Sunday to Thursday, from 12:00pm to3:00pm for a price of AED 58.
It’s a pretty restaurant with different shades of color on the walls. You would find traditional items hanging on the walls and a wide glass window adding lot of natural light into the restaurant during the day which gives a healthy glow on the inside. You find different seating with benches, chairs and most tables suited to fit 4 individuals. The cushions and the plants sometimes gives the feel at home as well. The plates were interesting with different prints of colorful fruits on it such as banana and watermelon.
We started off with their exotic mocktails. The spicy mocktail was pretty good which was called the RED TROUBLE consisting of chili, mint, raspberry, lime and soda. The carribean sea mocktail was my favourite for it’s sweetness which consisted of peach, pineapple, lime, honey & basil. While we waited for our starters came the complimentary Nachos and dippers. The colored Nachos really makes a difference on a plate compared to the classic ones. Ofcourse there isn’t much to say here except it’s was fun cracking those dipped chips in your mouth. The starters were too small in portion size. The plate was small and the content was less, although both tasted good at it’s own level. The house salad was pleasant and biting those avacados in them was the best part.
The Mains have been delicious. If you really want a heavy meal then just go for the cuban wrap which comes heavily packed with beef, rice and beans. Those slow cooked beef were obviously the highlight of this wrap. They were accompanied with fries which made it even more filling. This plate of main would be the right choice if you are really hungry that day. The grilled chicken was like any other grilled chicken but the special mexican item called adobo enchilada was the interesting part on the plate. The grilled chicken is also accompanied by bbq vegetables. The pan fried salmon was my favourite. The salmon tasted wonderful and it came on a bed of salad which reminds of you the house salad you got as a starter.
We then ended our lunch with the hot mexican favourite which is the churros. The melted chocolate dipper that came along was so good that the churros was getting overshadowed by it’s over powering taste. Churros was hot, thick and crispy and went great with the melted chocolate but I felt the Churros could still get better here. Churros by itself was having a different taste.
