We started off with a traditional Turkish pastry filled with cheese. It came warm with golden flaky layers of dough filled with thick white cheese. The taste is rich, slightly salty. The contrast between the soft, warm cheese and the crisp exterior makes every bite satisfyingly indulgent. The Dubai daytime pudding came chilled. Creamy, flavorful, and beautifully presented, arriving elegantly in a glass bowl filled till the brim. It’s a pure thickened milk pudding sandwiched between crispy layers of pistachio kunafa. The texture is incredibly silky rich with a creamy base that melts effortlessly in your mouth. But if you enjoy chocolate I would highly recommend you to try the Dubai Chocolate pudding which is my favourite pudding pick at Hafiz Mustafa. The saffron milk cake stands out for its unique flavor and texture. This dessert features a moist sponge cake soaked in saffron-infused milk, topped with a layer of cream and saffron, offering a harmonious blend of sweetness and the aromatic essence of saffron. What we need to really appreciate is the quality of the saffron used at Hafiz Mustafa which makes it a standout piece that we’ve ever tasted.

The Honey Cheese Kunafa arrived at our table with great elegance. The kunafa is plated beautifully on a wooden board along with a bottle of pistachio and honey on the side. Served hot and crispy, Beneath that crisp exterior lies the heart of the dish, a gooey stretchy layer of mild slightly salty cheese that creates a beautiful contrast with the sweet honey syrup that we pour on top at our will. Further garnishing it with crushed pistachios provided. We also paired it with a slice of Turkish ice cream which made this treat more than a just a dessert but an experience! The white vanilla ice cream so was pure to it’s taste. This was the best experience with a kunafa where you have your own load of pistachio, honey and ice cream. Hafiz Mustafa elevates this beloved classic into a show-stopping experience that’s equal parts comfort and luxury.

From the very first bite, Hafiz Mustafa’s baklava lives up to its reputation. Whether you choose pistachio, walnut, or even chocolate-infused varieties, the attention to detail is evident. The layers of phyllo dough are paper-thin and incredibly flaky, offering a satisfying crunch before giving way to the soft, syrup-soaked core. The pistachio Baklava was fresh, aromatic and offered a satisfying crunch. The texture was perfect, crisp on the edges and meltingly soft in the center. The walnut baklava, on the other hand, had a deeper, more robust flavor. The walnuts brought a warm earthiness, they created a beautiful balance of richness and nuttiness. Infact, this would be the only shop where I could truly appreciate a Walnut baklava. Pairing your baklava with a hot glass of Turkish tea or coffee makes it for the perfect ending after plenty of sweetness in your mouth. What sets Hafiz Mustafa’s baklava apart is the quality of the ingredients. The nuts are premium, the pastry is always crisp and golden, and the syrup is applied just enough to enhance, never to overwhelm. It’s indulgence with balance. Whether you’re a baklava connoisseur or trying it for the first time, this is a treat you won’t soon forget. Coffees came with a Turkish delight. A Soft, fragrant and dusted turkish delight with powdered sugar.

The ultimate dessert had to be the so called Afet-I Devran Pistachio Carrot Baklava. The vibrant green of the pistachio against the golden baklava and white ice cream is a visual treat. Nothing carrot about it, it’s just baklava shape resembling a carrot wedge. The dessert arrives like a crown jewel, a generous slice of pistachio wrap sandwiched between baklava and cold slice of Turkish ice cream drizzed with their signature Ala sauce. The first bite is a pure delight. Nutty, flaky, and lusciously sweet. The pistachio wraps are dense and rich, their buttery texture balanced beautifully by the chilled slice of Turkish ice cream. It’s a sensory contrast – warm and cold, chewy and crunchy, sweet and earthy, all in one.
Hafiz Mustafa in Dubai is more than just a dessert shop. It’s a celebration of Turkish culinary artistry.
