The weather was cold and drizzling tonight and I thought it was a perfect time to have some dinner at Royal Orchid. A restaurant that offers you a fusion of Chinese and Thai cuisine. As always they start by serving you complimentary prawn crackers along with their sauces.
Fruity Samui – A blend of berries with a twist of passion
Juicy Pattaya – A delightful combination of peach, mango and orange with pineapple juice
Fruity Samui was my favorite in here. Enjoyed every sip.
MANDARIN MOJITO – A TWIST OF FRESH MANDARINS AND MINT
The Mojito drink we ordered was different from the other 2 juices. It came little, tasted good and it got over in a zap.
Soup never tasted this good, partial credit should also be given to the weather. We got into this restaurant a little wet and cold and this excellent soup made up for all of the wetness and cold. It was the best order to make in this situation.
THAI PAPAYA SALAD (SOM TAM) – It came cut in thin slices and honestly I ate this one the most than the main course. I generally enjoy onions dipped in vinegar and this one tasted something similar.
Always enjoy veg spring rolls. Nothing to complaint here. As expected it came thick, crispy and loaded with vegetables in it.
Tao Duck Dumplings is supposed to be one of their specialties. So even though I am not a big fan of ducks I just thought I should try this one. It came looking great. Each duck dumplings sat on each piece of cucumber. It reminded me of golf balls placed on a tee. It was a good presentation. If you enjoy ducks then you should try this one otherwise the duck dumplings might not be as exciting as the presentation. They make it well it’s just the ducks though.
There were just 2 pieces of their Wasabi prawns. 2 bites and both were over. Nice and juicy. Forget to ask them but the prawns that came dipped in a sauce which was similar to mayo.
BASKET OF ASSORTED DIM SUMS – They had this assorted dimsums which was a nice option so you get to try one of each. But it doesn’t comprise all of their dimsums, just 4 out of their big collection of dimsums. Every basket came with only 4 pieces max. I enjoyed the dimsum that came from a section of POT STICKERS. It was called chicken, Chives and Water Chestnuts.
Had their sizzling lamb with their pancakes and it was all good. Nicely cooked lambs along with vegetables. I thought their lamb were cut a little bit too thin.
Interesting buns. Eating this kind for the first time. Enjoyed their pancakes for sure.
The Water Chestnut Rubies in Sweet Coconut Milk with Crushed Ice was my favorite here. At a point I thought the coconut was overloaded with colorful chestnuts. Always enjoyed milk desserts and this one’s good. Of course get’s a 5/5 for it’s presentation.
Fresh Thai Mango with Coconut Flavoured Sticky Rice – This one finished quickly. My wife enjoyed this one more. I think this is one dessert anyone can enjoy. Specially loved the coconut flavored sticky rice that came along with it.
