Catch22 – JBR, The walk Dubai

It all begins with a visual treat. Breakfast hasn’t been so much fun. Filled with great vibes and color, that’s what Catch22 restaurant is all about. One of the best restaurants to visit with families and friends for a casual day out. We were invited to try out their new breakfast menu and it was a lavish spread of some of the best breakfast items you could ask for on your table. Pretty looking breakfast that is absolute Instagram worthy and they tasted even more wonderful. The restaurant also had their own photo booth where you could take some crazy pictures with your buddies and it’s free!

Catch22 restaurant has a beautiful spot at JBR. The restaurant faces the beach where you can see the sea while you eat and feel it’s breeze. The weather in the morning is also looking good to dine in their balcony outdoor tables. In or out, the restaurant is full of color. Colorful chairs, wall art, cartoons, drawings, lighting. It’s a very casual and young setup. The food here is also rich and you better get ready to enjoy and gain some calories.

They have an amazing collection of drinks from smoothies, mocktails, frappes, fresh juices, iced tea, hot drinks. I thought we picked the right ones. I was in complete love with my berry punch smoothie which was thick, cold filled with berries and a touch of orange juice. It was a berry dominated drink but loved every sip of this thick smoothie. Healthy ingredients and you very much enjoy it too. The Passion Twister Mojito was nice in the beginning but in the long run the ice cubes melt and the watery mojito loses its taste.

Fully loaded breakfast – AED 65 – Grilled beef, sausages, beef bacon, asparagus, pancakes, sunny-side up eggs, baked beans, portabello mushroom, grilled tomatoes, sour-dough bread, butter and jam

Shroomie Bennie Croissant – AED 40 – croissant stuffed with saucy blue cheese mushrooms, beef bacon, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, crispy onions

The fully loaded breakfast comes elegantly in a cast iron griddle with usual suspects for an American breakfast. King sized vegetables, sausages, pancake and two cute little sunny side up eggs. There was a maple syrup on the side for the pancake. The dough bread accompanied was amazing, toasted and you enjoy them with jam and butter spread. The croissant was super crispy and would make a sound every time you cut it. The blue cheese mushroom sauce on it was a special one which took this dish to the next level. Beef bacon and crispy onions made it even better. The poached eggs on top of the croissant by itself was a breakfast of its own. We had to appreciate the display of these breakfast dishes and well they were presented on a plate. You just felt something special has reached your table, no matter what breakfast you ordered.

Slow cooked brisket bennie – AED 62 – toasted brioche bread with melted cheddar cheese, slow cooked brisket, korean barbeque marinade, poached eggs, hollandaise, apple chutney, crispy onions

The Royal Bap – AED 68 – glazed potato bun filled with avocado, fried eggs, chedar cheese, smoked salmon, mixed salad of dill, fennel, pickled onions, capers, served with mixed greens and hash browns

The slow cooked brisket with korean barbeque marinade had a great flavour and very much enjoyable. The brioche bread was thick and king sized. The smoked salmon sandwiched in a brioche bun was unbelievably tasty. The bun was like a giant but at the same very light. I was just expecting like any other salmon sandwich but this was exceptional. The secret would be those n number of fillings in it such as the pickled onions that gave it a unique taste. It was also accompanied with a little portion sized salad that was really good. This was a surprise favourite from the list. A highly recommended breakfast for someone who wants to start healthy.

Dulce Ricotta Pancakes – AED 56 – Pancakes stuffed with sweet maple, almond crumble, dulce chocolate, ricotta cream, caramelized banana, pecan nuts, fresh raspberries, chocolate dulce sauce

Berry Nice Pancakes – AED 58 – pancakes stuffed with sweet maple, almond crumble, blueberry cream, topped with mascarpone, blueberry drizzle, vanilla creme, shards of meringue and raspberry flakes

Don’t forget to try their pancakes for breakfast. A fancy one with plenty of toppings to cheer anyone. Quite rich and overwhelming. We tried both of their signature pancakes and I felt the blueberry pancakes had a better build to my liking. The blueberry cream and the shards of meringue was just on a different level and at the same time the Dule Ricotta pancakes had dulce sauce heavily poured on top of the pancakes. The caramelized banana gave those dulce ricotta pancakes a special touch and look. Overall it’s an item to not miss here for breakfast. It’s one of those dishes where you don’t count calories and just enjoy it all the way.

We ended our breakfast with a hot coffee and did you know they actually print your photo on your order of coffee. This was a unique one. We also had our share of fun and laughter at the photo booth where you could just go and take random photos with different backgrounds. It was a perfect setup for a good hearty morning. At the end it was about the total experience. We surely got a little more than just breakfast at Catch22 and also commendable was the customer service.
