Who wouldn’t mind eating at The Palace Downtown Dubai. My Friday Brunch turned out to be a GRAND one. Ewaan’s Friday brunch is not limited to their traditional Arabic cuisine but also serves international specialties which also includes LIVE cooking stations and Entertainment. Seafood lovers are going to love this place as the amount of option is vast for them. There wasn’t any breakfast item found though or did I miss it in this vast treasure of food :p
For seatings, you have lot of options which includes cushioned and leather seats as well as sofas. I loved the specific private cabana setup designed for group of people and makes it private. The best part there is no additional price for these private cabanas. For entertainment you have LIVE music being played on the background by a band of girls. There is no singing but just musical instruments being played throughout our brunch. The music goes from English to Indian music as well.
We went for their Detox brunch where the brunch includes Mocktails and fresh Juices. Some of their Detox drinks would be Passion melon, Grapefruit Celery, Beetroot Carrot, Cranberry Rosemary, Green Tea Cucumber. These drinks were as pure and original as possible.
Breads and cheese where an attraction especially their cheese offering. You would find some of the finest cheese at this counter. Along with quality condiments for their cheese such as Jacob biscuits, crackers, dry fruits, etc.
They had two soups for the day which was Lentil and Tom Yum. Both were well made and felt very nice in the tummy to begin our brunch with.
The hot starters here was one of my favourites. The shrimp tempura is a must try. A nice , thick juicy fried shrimp. The crispy spring rolls was the next favourite from the lot. What I like about their hot nibbles is that they were served fresh out of the frying pan keeping them hot and crispy.
If you love foie gras then they have nice tempting arrangements for you here. They serve foie gras in different methods, so it’s worth a note if you love them.
They have a huge selection of seafood. After a long time I am seeing a buffet that is generous with seafood. The salmons, shrimps, Prawns, Lobsters, Oyesters, whole roasted Hammour have all been a highlight here. Giant lobsters and Prawns remain an attraction at the center of their buffet counter. You can find them roasted, fried, grilled and it’s where you actually capitalize on Ewaans brunch price.
By the way, if you are a vegetarian you are not left out either. There is lots to eat from English salads to Arabic mezzeh. Infact I really enjoyed my selection of salads and vegetables and kind of over ate them which I regret when I found it difficult to finish my mains. Really wished I could eat like a camel today.
Live stations are an attraction and one of the most exciting LIVE station is where the grilled lamb, beef, prawns sizzle. The meats are freshly grilled and the best part is there is no waiting or queues. They managed the capacity very well, a sheer blessing to diners 🙂
Asian Sushi and dimsums can also be seen floating around. They had seafood and veg for dimsums and sushis happen at a LIVE station where you could actually see them making a sushi for you. It gives you a lot of insight into the art of Sushi making if you have never seen a sushi being made.
There is a separate hall dedicated to desserts. Arabic specialty sweets along with international desserts with plenty of in house cakes for selection. The most notable desserts for me was the Arabic Mafroukeh, tarts, dark chocolate cake and black forest cake. One dessert they could really improve would be the kunafa. Also note they had a LIVE station at the dessert section where they made fresh stuffed crepes. All in all, you are going to have the perfect sweet ending like how you always wanted with ample of desserts to try and eat.
Don’t forget to inform the hotel if it’s a special day as they have a special arrangement of bringing in a cake to your table along with their crew singing a happy song on the background.
At the end we had a choice of hot drinks and we picked up the Moroccan tea which I thought was the best companion after a heavy brunch. The cappuccino was strong and good as it looks.
Ewaans Friday brunch starts at AED 325 and can go upto AED 695 per person depending on the package you choose. Brunch timings are from 01:00pm to 04:30pm inclusive of soft drinks, Mocktails and Fresh juices. They have recently renamed their Friday brunch as 1,001 Flavours Brunch. The Place, The furniture, The Cutlery all looks so posh & so unique. Feel like The Palace defines Luxury, but too hard om pocket 🙁
Unfortunately, Luxury and comfort comes with a price. But keep your eyes open on groupon and entertainer vouchers. You might find an offer there.
