Catch22 is a trendy, young restaurant at LaMer Dubai. They are open for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Catch22 sounds like a seafood restaurant by name but they seem to touch upon everything. They’ve got a wide menu offering from light bites, starters, sticks, sushis, salads, sandwiches, Monster Burgers, crazy Shakes, including vegan options such as the newly introduced Vegan Burger and Vegan Waffle stack. There is plenty to eat and experience at catch22. Food here is also very generous in portion size and a restaurant perfect for some insta stories and pictures.
The restaurant is located close to the beach, so it is easily accessible to the beach goers. The interior is typical American style with vibrant color, cartoons and characters with catchy quotes and one liner found on the walls of the interior. There is also a pop up room inside where you could dress yourself up fancy and have them posted on your instagram page.
We started with the Berry punch smoothie which was a thick, heavy and a delicious drink. The drink that you must try here would be one of their signature crazy shakes which was indeed overwhelming and to an extent we didn’t want to have any dessert later. The single crazy shake came with a topping of brownie, warm chocolate cookie, a molten cake and a waffle which was really a crazy addition to a shake. It was like desserts collected on top of a shake. So that’s like a 2 in 1 order, desserts and a shake. The crazy shakes and monster burgers gives Catch22 attention, especially from social media handles.
To begin with let me give you a tip. Those marked with c22 are to be tried, they really are special. The C22 shrimp starter was out of this world. It was one of best shrimp experience for your palate. I think it’s the magic of the spiced chilli aioli sauce and lemon sprinkle on top of a good quality shrimp that makes it a mouth watering experience. The calamari rings were a little deceiving. In the menu picture they looked big but eventually they were smaller calamari rings stacked up. But don’t get me wrong, they were crispy and delightful to eat by dipping in that aioli which was a very important condiment for the fried Calamari. The salad was a good one, very healthy and satisfying.
The vegan burger is a must try. You just don’t miss any of that beef. It actually feels like a beef patty but really it’s a vegan inside. I think they have done a fantastic job in creating this vegan burger without compromising on the experience of a real burger. For fries you have the option of curly, steak or regular size. The steak fries were thick and the curly where thinner but crispier, whichever fries you won’t be disappointed. The bun was commendable too. As far as the Spanish Paella is concerned, we loved every seafood in it which was just best part about the Paella. Kids menu was an interesting one as the chicken tenders came in a toy truck and the best part, they get to keep the truck! That’s a kind thought of the restaurant and a smart move too. Kids are surely going to pull us back here for more. We then ended our lunch with a fine Moroccan tea.
