Desserts (pick one) for brunch

Bombay Bungalow has a beautiful brunch offering during the weekends. The brunch consists of starters, salads, soups, appetizers, mains, desserts including fancy drinks. Our visit at the restaurant was at the peak of the cool weather in Dubai which kept us good company throughout our brunch. The LIVE music played at the restaurant during our brunch was also another highlight which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was usually the Bollywood classic hits. I just wished we also had good views of the musicians who played the instruments brilliantly today for us, as we picked the table facing the beach. When you eat at Bombay Bungalow expect a twist to Indian cuisine, it’s not the typical Indian cuisine but Indian cuisine with a modern touch to it which they take pride by calling it as modern Indian cuisine.

Bombay Bungalow is a beautiful restaurant on the inside starting with its grand chandeliers. Interiors reflects a typical Indian Bungalow. We sat outdoors at the restaurant which was a good idea as the restaurant was facing the beach with wonderful views and natural breezy wind. The weather had also been fantastic during our brunch. It wasn’t just the magical food but good food, weather, beautiful views and LIVE entertainment in the background, all made it a great experience eating at the restaurant. You have LIVE musicians playing at the restaurant singing to famous Bollywood songs throughout the brunch. So this really sets the right tone for our weekend afternoon. Waiters have been commendable for their service as they were around for any assistance needed.

Sweet and Sour Lassi
Papdi Chaat

We had colorful drinks for the brunch. The best drink on the table was actually the Virgin Mojito. The Lassi could have been better is what I personally felt which was a little too thick, be it sweet or salted. We then had the soup which was amazing. It was one of the best Lentil soup to enjoy, I highly recommend any one at Bombay Bungalow to definitely start with this one. Fattoush was typical. The papdi chaat came pretty to our table but the crispy crackers were a little too thick. Next time we definitely going to try picking the keema samoosa instead which looks enticing on their instagram page. The two grills which was the Fish and Afghan Murg Tikka has been fabulous especially the Malabar Fish tikka. I can fairly say that the Fish tikka did overtake the Afghani Mugh tikka, although both have been a joy to eat.

Burrata Butter Chicken – fenugreek tomato gravy, tandoori chicken tikka, butter naan
Aloo Tamater Ghost – Slow cooked mutton, potato, tomato, curry, steamed rice
Breads and rice for the brunch

We then went into the mains. The chicken biriyani was fabulous that came in a clay pot, loved the fragrance and taste of the rice in it. The man of the match was definitely the Mutton curry, nice juicy slow cooked tender mutton pieces along with king sized potatoes which I often confused it for a mutton piece while I went for it. The burrata butter chicken was more on the sweeter side and the unique quality being the thick bubbly cheese floating in that red butter chicken curry. I felt the butter chicken by itself was a little watery comparatively, nevertheless it’s an tantelgizing experience eating with their crispy naan rotis. The daal Makahani was five star quality, thick and rich in taste.

Pineapple Carpaccio – served with infused beetroot & coconut ice cream
stuffed hot Gulab Jamun

The desserts were an art on a plate. They looked completely different from what you’d expect. Probably we witnessed one of the prettiest looking kulfi on our table. The stuffed hot Gulab Jamun was my personal favourite, a premium Gulab Jamun which had a rich stuffing of saffron and comes with white ice cream on the side which I confused it for a Rasagulla at first. The combination of hot and cold was lovely. The third dessert was the prettiest which they called ‘Pineapple Carpaccio with infused beetroot & coconut ice cream’, don’t see anything Indian in this one but if you love pineapple then you are going to love this dessert. Don’t forget their tea and more than tea it’s the experience of the chai wala coming to your table and serving you the signature way like at Bombay, India. Bombay Bungalow definitely transports you to its rich heritage and culture with its food and ambience at the restaurant. Click here to visit the official website.
