Desserts at Rohini by Little Miss India

Rohini is a pretty little Indian restaurant found at Jumeirah Lake Towers. An Indian restaurant serving modern Indian cuisine. Menus such as ‘Darling different dishes’ makes Indian cuisine a little more interesting at Rohini, a fusion between Indian and international cuisine. Besides Modern Indian Cuisine, they do make traditional favourites and what we loved about eating at Rohini was the quality and unique flavours found in their dishes. Good Food, healthy ambience and a large collection of fancy drinks wants you to visit Rohini more often.

Rohini has a style of it’s own with it’s beautiful decor. They have different kinds of seating from high chair, sofas & regular chairs. The walls have a touch of modern Indian art which add plenty of color and character to the restaurant. We also noticed a mini stage at the restaurant but no LIVE music during our lunch, instead we got to hear some recorded funky bollywood music throughout our lunch. It’s a very laid back setup, the attendants were more reactive than pro-active. Most people would just come to chill with a drink and mobile in their hand for hours. Its’ definitely a lovely spot for a catch up with friends or a casual meeting.

They have an amazing collection of drinks. We tried the Imli gola and Aam Raas. I thoroughly enjoyed the Aam Raas which was a magic of mango puree, dry mango, lime juice, rose cordial and mint. The Imli Gola definitely didn’t go well for me as the tamarind was a little dominating and definitely not for the sweet tooth. But others on my table did enjoy it because they preferred a lesser sweet drink. But the drinks are a must try as they seem to make it well here and they’ve got a big collection too. Everything on the veg kebab platter was honestly amazing. Even the broccoli, which was tandoori grilled was mesmerizing. Probably the best tasting broccoli we’ve had. The pan-fried spinach and green peas patty can also not be forgotten. These little vegetables tasted so good that the typical king paneer lost the limelight in front of these vegetables. The Galouti kebab was a melt in the mouth. The lamb soup felt like the original, was the perfect companion for the cold weather and they made it very well. The khasta palak was different from all those chaat we see and eat regularly. It was unique, never saw this one in a menu before. This is what we loved eating at Rohini, Indian food had a wider range and taste great too!

Then came the heavy duty Nali Nihari. Those two pieces of mutton shank was just amazing. The mutton would just fall of the leg as you hold it as it was that tender. The curry by itself was really good that I took the remaining home. The goan fish curry was also nice. Naturally the two curries had two different taste from two different ends but we were able to appreciate the quality and taste in them. We made sure to try different Rotis and wow these guys really know how make Indian breads well. Each roti was very different from each other and most of them crisp and flavourful as you have them with the curries around. I honestly enjoyed each one of them, and each of them having it’s unique characteristics and taste.

The desserts are a must try here. They’ve elevated the Indian desserts to the next level at Rohini. You see them and you can tell. They come very pretty to your table. Definitely instagram worthy. I was totally in love with their Rohini Gulab Jamun. The masala chai was ordinary, didn’t find it any special. It was a more watery chai. Enjoyed the Rasmalai very much especially with the white chocolate clotted cream which was luscious and infact at times outshining the rasmali itself. The pistachio chocolate kulfi was a typical kulfi coated in chocolate. It was a great combo between chocolate and kulfi. These desserts are a must try as they are very unique and a Rohini signature. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t showcase any of the specialties from the Daring Dishes section which would have been interesting but hopefully in the future when we visit them next time you should get to see what’s it like.
