Al Dawaar has been one of the oldest iconic restaurants in Dubai. Long before the tall buildings and rise of modern Dubai, Hyatt Regency had already created a mark in the 80’s with it’s sheer size. A distinct feature about this first Hyatt Hotel in UAE was the revolving restaurant that rested on top which everyone spoke about in UAE back then. It was one of a kind and is still a rare restaurant that revolves throughout your meal giving you 360 degree panoramic views of Dubai including the sea and the city. Al Dawaar restaurant is currently hosting a brunch called the ‘sky brunch’ every saturday and sunday with unlimited buffet and drinks depending on the package you choose. The brunch starts at AED 249 with soft beverages.
- SKY BRUNCH – Sunday and Sunday, 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM
It’s interesting that even after visiting this restaurant in 2024, the 40+ year old restaurant still feels brand new. We just loved the clean theme with white spaces and large leafy paradise plants around. There are different kinds of seating options available from sofas to lounge chairs. Unique offering would obviously be the 360 degree panoramic sky view. You need to make sure you don’t leave your purse or your phone on the side of the window cause the restaurant is constantly moving and you could be away from your item in some time. The restaurant revolves really slow that you just don’t even feel it, yet you realize it’s moving as your views keep changing with time. It’s really a spectacle even today. Clearly the brunch is worth the price for the experience and is a must visit spot if you’ve never been here before. We did witness quite a few birthday and anniversary celebration. You just need to inform them in advance while you do the booking so they can arrange you a special candle lit slice of cake to celebrate the occasion.
It’s a buffet that starts with a stretch of amazing collection of salads. I must tell you I was in completely love with the salads offered here. There were plenty and you could just look at my plate and tell. The restaurant manager was kind enough to treat us to some of their signature mocktails. The sunrise mocktail would be my favourite in here. The seafood selection has been impressive, they had those premium oysters as well. You also would find bread and cheese section for those who like to eat the British way.
For starters they had a Mexican special which was the Nachos and it’s condiments such as the guacamole and other spicy, tangy dippers. They also offered 2 kinds of soups, lentil and seafood soup. The seafood was fast moving here. The burger was just too good from the bun to the beef patty, really soft and delicious. The Shawarma offering didn’t taste like the classic shawarma, instead more like a taouk in Arabic bread. They also had dedicated hot starters and mains for the vegetarians. When it comes to non-veg, I really admired their beef stew and Thai green curry. Seafood lovers have plenty of prawns, salmon and oysters to try.
When it comes to meats they had well cooked roast beef, tenderloin, chicken tikka, BBQ buffalo chicken wings, Arabic kebabs. There were a few succulent beef available from the mains including a Beef stew which was just succulent. Seafood lovers had a full sized grilled fish, salmon and plenty of prawn dishes to try. They have just what was needed to keep you happy, nothing really too much to have food wasted. I thought it was a well balanced menu with all the favourites around. There were also sushis and dimsums available.
They have this beautiful space with desserts. Different kinds of pastries, cakes and my favourite was this special chocolate cake called silk chocolate cake which was so intense and would just melt in your mouth. You could have ice creams with different toppings and sauces. There was a live station at the dessert section making crepes and you could opt to have stuffings of your liking like banana, Nutella, berries. They also had dedicated Arabic sweets including the signature Kunafa(cream) which was hot and crispy.
