After years of passing by the iconic building of Dusit Thani Dubai on sheikh Zayed road, I am finally inside this hotel for a treat to Thai cuisine at Benjarong which transports you to a royal home in Thailand, offering you some authentic piece of Thai cuisine with views of the majestic sheikh zayed road from your dining table, along with traditional music as well as live performance of classical dance which enhances your fine dining experience at Benjarong.
The restaurant is located on the 24th floor of Dusit Thani hotel. As soon as the Elevator opens there was a lady already waiting to welcome us to the restaurant. The interiors are definitely royal and exquisite. They have different types of dining hall including a special private dining space where you will actually sit on the floor and have the cuisine. Throughout our dinner we had the background thai music being played and once in a while there was an artist who would be performing a classical dance to the tune of the background music. I love the traditional thai roof at Benjarong.
For drinks besides the usual ones, they had a special category called the thai herb juices where each type of herb juice had it’s own benefits like betterment for the skin, heart, immune system, digestion, vitamins, sour throat, nausea etc. For their mocktails listing I definitely would recommend the red shirley temple which was 7up with grenadine and a cherry, sounded simple but was a thirst quencher. The pina colada was just ok, I’d say I’ve had better ones than this one.
The starters were the best part for me at Benjarong. The warm tom yum soup was top class and the tangy spicy mango salad was a delicious one. You just couldn’t stop with a spoon or two. The assorted Benjarong appetizers was a beautiful platter filled with 5 different appetizers with 2 piece of each and my favourite pick would be the shrimp parcel. The dippers were really good which actually gave a nice touch to the appetizer.
The soft shell crabs were so damn crispy that you could hear it as you bite them. The black pepper sauce that came along with it was a little dominating in taste. The phad thai was one of the best I’ve had. The green chicken curry was one of their most famous curries and you could tell it’s a good one. Although I felt the chicken could have been cooked better. The curry alone was a tantalizing one for sure.
Although I am not a big fan of thai desserts, their homemade coconut ice cream is something that you need to try which tasted really fresh and irresistible. I thought it was even better than their signature sticky rice dessert. Infact, I was having the ice cream along with the sticky rice which made the sticky rice taste even better.
