Here I am at the opening of the 10th store of Alison Nelson’s Chocolate Bar, situated at the expanded wing of Mall of Emirates. The best part of today was that Alison herself was present at the store to tell us her story and why she believed in chocolate. Except I don’t understand why she hasn’t put on any weight working with chocolates. The chocolate bar not just serves chocolates and desserts but also has a long menu on breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve visited Alison Nelson’s chocolate bar in Dubai Mall and have written a detailed post on their chocolate desserts. Click here to read that post. For today I experienced their lunch in particular and with great company of the founders.
As opposed to the one which I had previously visited in Dubai Mall, this venue felt bigger. Except you miss that ICE rink at Dubai Mall. Its a 2 mins straight walk from the new Apple store at MOE.
As a part of the opening day, we were all given samples of their freshly baked goods such as croissants, breads, puffs, sandwiches etc. Proving they could make us a little more than just chocolate desserts. Most of these you should find in their breakfast menu. They were truly impressive. The black and white gelato shake is a must try. It’s a dense shake of dark and white chocolate which had an intense taste of premium chocolate.
On their menu they had a long selection of salads and main courses. Our salad was very good except I felt the goat cheese quality could get better. The grilled salmon looked polished and never could look more attractive laying on top of those cooked vegetables. But somehow the salmon wasn’t at it’s best. I wasn’t getting the quality experience I got at Paul or fume. I thoroughly enjoyed the cooked vegetables that came along with it. The maincourse I really enjoyed was the Tagliatelle pasta which was not just creamy but had a nice flavour to it that kept you wanting for more.
Now came the best part where they actually excel. It began with their fondue and I must agree the marshmallows that come along with it is one of the best I’ve had. The brownies were perfectly baked and would just melt in the mouth. The dark chocolate molten cake had a thick chocolate sauce that would tease us while we cut open the soft cake. The experience and taste is addictive and it just finished so quickly 🙁
They also sell their own signature chocolates which are made by them. All these chocolates comes with different ganache fillings. They taste unique and is one of a kind. The chocolates is good and is of great quality. They are usually priced at Dhs 10 per piece and is available in different sizes of gift sets. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
Keept it up
