Everybody wants a piece of Audi and If you were looking for a family sedan from the Audi collection then it begins from an Audi A6. The Audi A6 comes in different variations and here we are testing the A6 2016 Sedan 50 TFSI quattro S tronic. The best of A6 you can own. The 50 TFSI Audi A6 2016 starts at dhs 248,000 but with additional package and equipment the price for this car can go as much as Dhs 295,000. The car usually comes with 5 years / 105,000km service package and 3 years warranty. There’s only been a facelift for the Audi A6 2016. Probably looking at the last iteration of this generation.

The A6 Sedan 50 TFSI quattro S tronic delivers 333 hp with 440nm of Torque. So it is a pretty quick sedan. By using the Audi drive select, you can choose different levels of driving experience from modes such as comfort, dynamic etc which changes characteristics of the engine, transmission, steering etc. For me to really enjoy the car’s engine, it had to be in dynamic. The funny part was I couldn’t feel the power in the beginning, only later I realized that after turning the knob to your selection you need to further press the button to activate it. Every time you start the car it goes back to normal having it to switch back to dynamic. But there was a shortcut to this method by pulling back the gear which is a quicker way to change the mode than using the knob. The Audi A6 with a 50 TFSI engine, Stronic gear and an all wheel drive quattro can never disappoint. Driving this car at quick acceleration and corners was a breeze but there was significant road noise noticed while driving.
Audi is known for it’s brilliant design and you always feel special sitting in an Audi surrounded by quality crafted materials. It’s surely an elite family car. The design of the 20 inch forged aluminium wheels expresses sheer power and strength of the car. The flat rear light and luminous matrix LED lights gives it a fascinating look on the road. The beautiful LED tail light strips is one way to identify the new models of A6 on the road. With striking bold elegant exteriors, I’ve noticed the pubic looking at the the sedan with great respect when parked. The interiors were simple in design yet says a lot about Audi design.
You have lot of controls next to the gear like :
- Start Engine Stop button
- MMI Controls which consist of a knob, control and function buttons
- MMI touch pad
- Navigation
- Electro mechanical parking brake
MMI touchpad was the coolest feature where you could use it as a pad to write characters while searching for your location.
As soon as you start the car the first beauty is how the 8-inch TFT colour display elegantly pops up from the center console. Listening to Music is a joy in this car, thanks to the evenly distributed 14 surround system Bose speakers. The leather seats are extremely comfortable. The red interior lights are catchy to anyone’s eye.
One design aspect which most people commented was about the wooden trim in the car. They all preferred to see a glossy wooden trim than the matte finish. Child lock was just on the drivers side so you never had to physically enable the feature from the back doors. This car came with power assisted doors which closed the doors automatically once you partially closed the door. The leather sport steering wheel felt great in the hands and the steering wheel was further trimmed on the sides by design for a better grip.
The Audi side assist worked fantastically well. I felt this was the most effective lane assist. The indication is big and clear and is noticed during a quick lane change. The head up display is a nice feature to have provided there wasn’t much reflection and sometimes I could see the whole rectangular projection on the windshield. Ideally the driver should only be seeing the information and nothing more as if the information was printed on the windshield.
The legroom for the passengers behind is still not sufficient. Tall people will definitely be disappointed with leg space behind. The AC behind comes with dual zone comfort. Besides the center AC, the fact that AC is even located on the sides for the back passengers is an effective positioning of the AC vents. The trunk has a descent space for all your luggage.
I was expecting the dynamic steering experience in this version but it never existed for this one :(. One area they could improve further for the next version of Audi A6 would be on decreasing the road noise. The current Audi A6 has been on the road for quite sometime. The overhaul design is around the corner and very soon we will see an All new Audi A6.
