Here’s a restaurant we often visit when we think Italian. This time we were here to try out their special 3 course festive menu which includes starters, mains and desserts. They also have a kids cooking class for just AED 49 during this festive period.

We visited the Carluccio’s at The Springs Souk. As always Carluccio’s restaurants is about color and space. Love the ambience. A wide open kitchen for you to see all action in the kitchen.

Complimentary bread sticks
Tropical Mocktail – AED 25

As expected we got their complimentary bread sticks and dipper to begin with. If I remember the last time we got breads which would be my preference. We ordered two fancy mocktails. Drinks were just fine, although it tasted fresh and it didn’t have the bells and whistles to call it exciting.

Preparation for Pizza making – Kids cooking class – AED 49

Kids cooking class – AED 49

The Kids cooking class was interesting. For Just AED 49, following would be the benefits of Carluccio’s Kids cooking class:

  • Kids would be making their own Pizza/Pasta
  • Dedicated chef to assist
  • Fresh Fruit juice
  • Choice of Gelato
  • Certificate
  • Chef hat
Pizza in the making
Pizza made by kids

The pizza was fantastic. Crisp and hot and infact each of them ate the entire pizza by themselves. Natural ingredients and a real pizza could really be appreciated at Carluccio’s. The other benefit on the Kids cooking program at Carluccios was the personal attention for your kids. They place a table next to your dining table and big chef would train your kids to make their own dish. Kids are also taken to the real furnace and they are given the experience of putting in and pulling out their dish from the furnace. Chef also interacts well with the kids which is also an important aspect of teaching.

Cream roasted Pumpkin soup served with parmesan croutons
Truffle Burrata – on a bed fresh carnival mixed and plum tomatoes, olive oil and fresh basil
Gorgonzala Salad – Red and green apple, seedless grapes, walnuts, raisins, baby gem, iceberg, lettuce tossed in gorgonzola dressing topped with croutons and crumbled gorgonzola cheese

From the festive menu they had some mesmerizing starters. The pumpkin soup was delicious. The salad was a favourite on the table. The dressing was so well done along with a heavy load of healthy ingredients which made it appetizing. The Truffle Burrata was fab, a quality one.

Main – Char Grilled Lamb chops served with rosemary potatoes, asparagus and rosemary jus
Mains – Char-Grilled Rib Eye topped with mixed peppercorn sauce and served with creamy mashed potatoes, confit tomatoes and grilled vegetables
Dessert – Chicken Milanese – Herbed crusted flattened chicken breast, rosemary potatoes and mixed lettuce

The mains were on a different level. The Char grilled Rib eye at Carluccio’s was one of the best we’ve had lately. The mixed pepper corn sauce was a little strong to my taste but otherwise we were just impressed by the steak alone. I believe the Lamb Chops above speaks for itself. It was a mouth watering experience. The chicken Milanese was crisp and the herb crust makes it’s an attractive chicken.

Dessert- Tiramisu
Dessert – Chocolate Brownie topped with Vanilla gelato and warm salted caramel sauce
Dessert – Classic Panettone with Vanilla Gelato and cream anglaise

It is not surprising to be picking a Tiramisu at an Italian restaurant. Although it was nice, I would say it couldn’t beat the one delivered by Chef Izu at Carine. The Classic Panettone would be my next favourite. The brownie felt ordinary. Desserts can be better at Carluccio’s. The mains and their starters is the highlight from their festive menu. We had our 3 course meal with a splendid coffee below.
