The Mediterranean kitchen is a nice wide restaurant located at La Mer. They have an interesting menu consisting of an excellent selection of Mediterranean cuisine. Every dish in the menu of Mediterranean Kitchen sounds exciting and is very difficult to round up on something. Food here is beautifully presented and definitely deserves a full mark.

Located at La Mer, the restaurant is facing the beach. They have a comfortable seating setup on the inside which includes comfy leather sofas, but it made more sense for us to be sitting outside in open feeling the winds in their balcony at La Mer.

Smoothies(sunshine-AED 36) and Mocktail(mango Mue – AED 35)

They make fabulous drinks here.  The smoothie was an interesting combination of strawberry, yoghurt, peach, coconut water and fills you up easily. The Mango Mule is a must try Mocktail which consists of cucumber, honey, mango, lime and ginger. A refreshing drink and a unique one for sure.

PADRON PEPPERS – AED 45 – sauteed padron peppers, garlic, served with tzatziki dip
Auberggine & FETA – AED 50 – Grilled eggplants, borlotti beans, feta cheese, rocket leaves
Crispy Calamari – AED 45 – fresh calamari, dusted with flour, salt & pepper, served with aioli dip
Mixed Meze board – AED 60 – selection of 3 tradition dips with pita bread

The starters were as exciting as the drinks. There is a selection of hot and cold starters along with salad. We picked more from their hot starters and they’ve been an excellent choice. The sauteed giant padron peppers are nothing to worry about when it comes to spice(was hardly of any spice) but just a joy biting and eating them with the dipper provided. The fried crispy calamari on the other hand was simply irresistible and no one can simply stop with one. The salad was heavily loaded with beans and tomato and if you are those who avoid tomatoes then this salad might not be the one for you. The Mezze board is good to share but felt it’s not worth the amount, better off going for something else in their menu.

Baked Cod – AED 125 – fresh cod fish, served with mashed potato and roasted tomatoes
Lobster Lasagne – AED 120 – lobseter, carrot, celery, leek Mozzarella

For the mains we tried seafood mainly, we really wanted to try their signature slow cooked lamb shank but was unfortunately out of stock. We then went to try their special Lobster Lasagne, it comes in a hot pan and makes everyone mouth watering on the table. What I personally loved the most was the baked mozzarella cheese on top of this lasagne. The baked cod fish felt a little dry, didn’t feel it as fresh as they described in the menu. But otherwise the fish had a nice flavour(a light one) to it, the accompanied mashed potato was pretty good.

Rich Chocolate Tart – AED 50 – dark chocolate tart served with ice cream
Tiramisu – AED 50 – Savoiardi biscuits, coffee, mascarpone cream and cocoa powder
Espresso Macchiato – AED 20
Cappuccino – AED 22

They make some amazing desserts here. Both the chocolate tart and the giant Tiramisu made a great impression on us. I thought the orange ice cream didn’t go very well with the chocolate tart, it probably would have been a better combo with a vanilla instead. The Tiramisu was generous in portion size and was a good one. They also make delightful cookies and biscuits for their coffee and tea. The quality of their coffee is also commendable.
