Jailbird is a must visit restaurant for fried chicken lovers. I mean fried chicken never tasted so good in a long time. I am so glad we visited Jailbird this weekend. It’s definitely a messy affair but don’t worry as they prepare you by providing gloves with their meal. It’s the first time we were actually eating a burger wearing gloves, and you need it cause they load so much in between, that the moment you take your first bite, the burger is exploding with sauces flowing out like a volcano.

Thunderbird – AED 43 – Smoked chipotle glaze, fried onion crunch, pickled onion slaw & JB sauce

Sando Melt – AED 44 – fried chicken tenders, Cheese fondue, Brioche & our sauce

Korean BBQ – AED 38 – Beansprout slaw, Korean BBQ sauce, sesame & miso mayo, pickles & our cage-free fried chicken breast in a brioche bun.

They do explode in great taste as well especially the THUNDERBIRD burger. The most advertised item in their menu is the SANDOMELT sandwich where you get the fried chicken in a bread, instead of bun. I like the presentation of the SANDOMELT sandwich where you see the sauces already flowing out of the sandwich. I personally enjoyed the burgers more than the sandwich. I think it was the soft texture of the bun and the ever filling in them.

Pretty Boy Fries – AED 28 – Crinkle cut fries, pickles, JB sauce, miso, soy glaze, Nashville spice & furikake.

Bee sting nuggz – Black honey, tabasco, caramel almonds, miso & chives

We visited the JBR branch which was spacious and it has this young and vibrant color, posters and artwork inside the restaurant adding a nice vibe to the interior. There are several types of crinkle cut fries available and basically you’ll have a tough time deciding on one. In any case, it is designed to look messy and our crinkle cut potato fries is hidden under pickles, sauces, soy and other nashville spices which makes it an attractive starter, so expect them to be soggy. The bee sting nuggetz were really nice, it was tender and had a nice flavour to it. We get a buzzer on placing the order. We wait for the buzzer to pick up our order for the counter. We look at the burger stuffing and realize we are surely going to get messy for lunch today. The gloves come in different sizes.

Chocolate Softy – AED 32 – chocolate & Hazelnut softy, saleted caramel & hazelnuts

Fruity Sodas – AED 28 – Cherry coke and Mango Tango

For desserts they have a signature chocolate cookie where chocolate melt out of the cookie like their burgers and their signature softies which is quite heavy and you definitely need more hands to help you finish it. The best part was the thick caramel toppings on the softie. They also make their own flavored sodas too like Mango, Apple, Peach, Cherry. Interesting that they make their own soda and package them.
