Here we are at on our first visits ever since the lock down. It’s a newly opened French dine-in bakery which offers wide variety of cakes, pastries, freshly baked bread, salads, amazing waffles and luscious pastries. The bakery is run by the celebrity Chef Pascal Tepper who has won Meilleur Ouvrier de France award, acknowledging him as one of the country’s best bakers. They also try to source their ingredients as much as possible from France. We have been mesmerized by some of their signature dishes which were unique to it’s taste and so writing this post to share our experience at Pascal Tepper on Sheikh Zayed Road.
This bakery is big. Located at a prime spot on Sheikh Zayed road, you can use the parking available at Four point Sheraton hotel when you dine in at Pascal Tepper. Spacious with high ceiling, wooden flooring and you are going to love the collection of plants on top of their counter. It’s an open kitchen so you get to see all that is being cooked in real time. They also have a giant oven where they heat their breads just before being served. We sat on the best looking table in the bakery which was a dark long solid wood table and benches on both sides.
It all begins with their complimentary toasted breads and butter. This was a wonderful start while we waited for our main order. They give us 2 kinds of bread where one was with sesame on top. All the breads are homemade. The only improvement they had to make from our order where the smoothies which really wasn’t up to par. Although it came very generous, it didn’t have the zest in them to make an impression.
From here on we enjoyed every inch of our order. The carrot soup we tried was very different and so good that even the kids enjoyed it very much. The salad was addictive, you’d appreciate greens when you try their salad. The scottish smoked salmon was obviously the star in it but the whole combination along with capers, cherry tomatoes, mint leaves, lemon, dill leaf and mixed lettuce blended well with the dressing. The salad definitely had a magic in it.
The Pasta was delicious and the chilli tomato cream sauce was a highlight for me. The slow cooked prawns was nice and no complaints. Ofcourse the real star from the mains was the Tenderloin sitting proudly on top of the Parmesan mashed potato and braised red cabbage. The mashed potato in that green peppercorn sauce was addictive in taste. The combination was really good and made your palette flavourful. The tenderloin definitely will need some cooking time and so you need to patiently wait while they prepare it for you.
They make one of the best Belgium waffle experience. The condiments that comes along with these waffles makes it even more exciting. The waffle itself was perfectly created and deserves a five star rating. Also the to be noted is that the quality of the condiments such as the 100% organic maple syrup does make a difference to the overall experience with these Waffles.
The chocolate lava cake was delightful and pleasing with it’s richness and purity of chocolate. Everything about this hot Lava cake was just amazing and a must have for chocolate lovers. I think it was the quality of the chocolates used and along with the natural ice cream provided, there was nothing like this combination that made our day. I believe they use Valrhona chocolate for this one.
The moment you enter Pascal Tepper, the first thing you do is stare at their counter of their overwhelming pastries. So we obviously made a point to try something from their counter. Pastries were unique, colorful and rich in the mouth. We went for their Eclair and I thought it was a nice one except the cream in it felt cold hence missed the freshness experience. They have all kinds of croissants from almond, plain, chocolate. The almond croissant was not a heavy filling of almond cream/paste in it. Rather it was more hollow inside with a light texture of almond paste. They had many variants of cookies such as chocolate chip, pecan, macadamia and Oatmeal. One thing we noticed was that the cookies were a little too sweet, I thought it would be better if they could cut down on the sugar levels for their cookies.
We then ended our fine afternoon with a fresh organic tea and a rare experience of making a hot chocolate. I literally made my own hot chocolate on the table. So you can either select a milk or a dark chocolate from their counter. They provide you a hot milk along with the chocolate stick, you basically stir the chocolate in the hot milk, making it a hot chocolate drink. The whole experience of making and drinking was fun. The best part about this is that you could control the amount of chocolate you wanted in your drink. Visit their official website here. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
