Bait Al Nakhla restaurant found at the The Retreat Palm is having a themed night promo where you eat unlimited buffet for just AED 99. We visited the Arabic restaurant on a Saturday which had a seafood themed night and we thought it was a good offer considering the amount of seafood that we got to eat tonight. So basically every night is not the same night here. You get to find a different buffet each night. Themed nights run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Details as below:

You have seatings outside and inside the restaurant. Outside, you are just by the pool and can hear beach waves from a distance. The weather was just perfect that almost all diners preferred to be seated outside the restaurant feeling the beautiful weather and unlimited hot food! The inside is also nice, actually we preferred the inside as it was more cozy, warm with comfortable seating arrangement. There’s a touch of middle eastern with its warm interiors, vintage middle eastern lamps and carpets. Infact, you enter the restaurant to find a souk inside it and also pass by traditional Henna painting.

The collection of mains and salad were plenty. I thought it was a good deal especially for a discounted price. It’s the very typical Arabic salads you can expect but the good news, whatever we tasted was wonderful. It had the authentic taste, so which is an assurance that they have the right chef here. For drinks they had soft drinks mainly, nothing more fancy. The only one issue is there wasn’t any host to brief you on the buffet. You had to figure it out yourself and there wasn’t anyone in particular to host you around. Because of this, we missed a big part of the buffet which was to eat freshly cooked seafood. We saw raw seafood in a corner but it didn’t say anything nor was there any sign board, so we thought it was just a seafood theme setup but in reality you could actually choose a fish in there and have it freshly grilled or cooked for you. This was something we realized while we were at our final course of the buffet, too late by then. So beware and don’t miss out on this one.

There wasn’t any crowd at the buffet stations and they had a decent stretch of seafood mains. The star grilled fish was the Salmon in a corner, then there was plenty of seafood rice and curries. It was traditional Arabic style mains, but considering it was a seafood theme, there were plenty of mains that we haven’t tasted before. We got to try different kinds of seafood dishes which is a wonderful experience for a seafood lover. There was also soup and breads on the side.

Desserts
Cheese Kunafa
Saffron Milk Cake

For desserts they had English and Arabic sweets. You don’t want to miss their saffron milk cake and Cheese kunafa. Although the cheese kunafa could have been better, as the cheese wasn’t soft enough but the real dessert that stole the show for me was the luscious milk cake that would just melt in the mouth. Probably one of the best milk cakes we’ve had recently. Just make sure you reserve a piece well in advance, so you don’t miss out on it. There were other English cakes such as the chocolate marble cake, brownies and berry tart which really wasn’t a choice for me after a heavy buffet. Freshly cut fruits looked very enticing too.
