Wow what a lovely culinary ride it has been at Logma. Logma is the restaurant that showcases the real food of Dubai. Eating at Logma brought back memories of the past where once upon a time International cuisines dominated less in Dubai and it was all about the abundant and affordable local dishes which is simple yet scrumptious and filling. Since I had lived all my life in Dubai, I was very much able to correlate everything in their menu. If you have foreign guests then make sure you have this restaurant marked in your list.
The restaurant is located in the new developments of Dubai called the BOXPARK. As expected the interior is kept traditional and very much with the heritage and trys to imitate the Bedouin era. All the waiters were seen wearing the local headscarf. Kerosene lamp can been seen hanging on the ceiling, camel art on chairs and walls, representing the true life in the desert. The ambience is very busy, lot of families coming in and sometimes even having to wait. Atleast 70% of the seats were occupied by the Emiratis itself. You would even find traditional Emirati families dining here where elderly women would be seen wearing the signature golden face mask.
Back the days there were some drinks that can be found in every one’s house. One of the them was the Vimto. Today you don’t see it much used at homes but this existed in everyone’s house once upon a time. The Vimto Frappe comes chilled. The best part about the Vimto Frappe was that drink would remain cold through out our meal and the taste would just keep getting better as the chilled Vimto gets cooler.
The Logma shake was a combination of milk, banana, dates and honey. It was thick and filling. Just the kind of shake I love. So pure and satisfying in taste.
They make some exceptional mocktails. Passion of Arabia is the one of their most featured mocktails, simply because it has a big picture of it on the menu and that kind of triggers the call for most. We tried the Sunset Mocktail which was a combination of orange, pineapple, sun-dried orange and pomegranate which was refreshing and delightful. The best part about this mocktail, it was the cheapest from the list of mocktails yet it was the most gorgeous looking and tasting mocktail on the table. I am so glad we gave this one a try.
The lentil soup came in a cute stainless steel bowl. Warm with texture being light and perfect for a lentil soup. I don’t remember the salads ever when it comes to local cuisine of Dubai but Logma has an impressive list of Salads. I think this is specifically a tailored menu considering the modern era and filling in the gap. But let me tell you these salads in Logma are made very well and have been exceptional in taste. I think you pick any of them and I am sure you will enjoy it thoroughly.
Samosa is one of the most consumed snack in Dubai specially in the evening between 04:00pm and 06:00pm. Here you have Samboosa which can come with cheese, beef or vegetable. We tried the cheese one. The samboosa were hot and crisp. Even though they are fried, you don’t realize it. My favourite bites at Logma is a Samboosa, next time I am eager to try their beef Samboosa.
The Khaleeji wings were the tiniest wings I’ve had but they were finger licking good. You definitely cannot stop with one. Once again the khaleeji spices on these wings gave it a nice flavour that you really enjoy it.
If you are at Logma for the first time and surely you would want to try their most famous item on the menu, Logma Fries. Highly featured on most social media platforms. Logma fries comes thin and crisp but it was those khaleeji spices on it that gave a nice spicy flavour which makes it an interesting one.
They have a dedicated page just for Khameer sandwiches. Khameer is basically the traditional baked breads. They have a long list of Khameer sandwiches that came with different mix and match of stuffing. This is again one of the highlights here. We tried one of chicken and beef and they were truly addictive and flavorful. The khameer sandwiches were stuffed well with meat. They give you plenty for your money. The bread is not too thick and at the same time very soft.
Machbous Lamb came with lot of nuts and boneless pieces of lamb. The food is served with a great heart at Logma. The lamb pieces were so much that I felt I was eating more lamb than rice. The dish also came with curd as a side. The khaleeji spices makes this dish taste wonderful and the tender lamb is commendable.
The Chebabs and the fried dumplings are the most memorable and well recognized sweet dishes of the Emirate. You see them more often during the Ramadan season, Festivals, Global village, Museums wherever there is heritage in showcase, you should find small stations selling these items on the side.
Cream cheese stuffed inside these pan cakes floating in date syrup make them delicious and irresistible. For the fried dumplings you also have the option to go with the nutella instead of the date syrup. I think date syrup is the perfect match for these fried dumplings. They are light, puffy, soft and you can easily eat a lot of these if you don’t keep a count of it.
The Chebab katayef was a crispy fried pankcake stuffed mainly with dates and mascarpone. It’s rich while being deep fried in oil, a good source to cholesterol I say. Makes you feel guilty half the way.
The Logma version of Fondant was unique and brilliant in taste. The use of Rahash on a fondant was a unique concept and loved every bit of it. There is a hole on top of the fondant cake where the dark chocolate is collected and the Rahash is used to hide this hole. So when you cut this cake, you see the Rahash on the top sinking into the cake as the dark chocolate oozes out. It’s a wonderful experience, I say this cake is a must try for chocoholics.
Ofcourse Karak Chai has always been a part of Dubai street life and you would want to end your meal at Logma with a nice thick tea. They make wonderful tea and rainbow milk is definitely used in this one. The Emirati coffee hasn’t been bitter as I expected and had the perfect sweetness to suite anyone.
The service at Logma is friendly and quick with no much waiting. Click here to visit their official website. Click pictures to see them in full screen view. Click pictures below to see them in full screen view:
