Vietnamese Foodies – Interior at Nakheel Mall

The first time I came across Vietnamese foodies was at JLT when they opened their first branch next to our office. Since then they’ve opened many more branches to cater to their growing fan base. The best part about their menu has been the true quality of food, and healthier as it can get by having most of their dishes cooked in broth or water, instead of the traditional oil. Their menu easily caters to dietary needs of today such as paleo, vegan, dairy and gluten free. If you’ve never eaten a Vietnamese food then it’s must visit as it’s going to rejuvenate your taste buds.

We were fortunate to be invited to their latest branch opening which is at Nakheel Mall. The interior was cozy and has a beautiful decor that had a touch of tradition and modern thought to it. The cutleries were of great quality and those chop sticks felt premium in the hands which had a weight to it. It’s an open kitchen concept so you see what is cooking in their kitchen. They’ve won plenty of awards for their top quality food and we were not surprised as we throughly enjoyed their dishes tonight.

Vegan Springrolls with Sweet Chilli Sauce – AED 22.00

We started off with their traditional cold drinks which comes in different combinations of fruits, tea, soda. They taste very different and is a must try when you have your dishes here, as they go well with their flavorful dishes. For starters, their green papaya and prawn salad is a must try and this a favorite for most people who visit here. They couldn’t go wrong with the Spring roll with sweet chili sauce which came hot and crispy. Each time you bite the spring roll there is a cracking sound, inside is lightly filled with vegetables which makes it a perfect starter. What’s also interesting is their beautiful looking wooden serving boards which makes any food on it a stunning piece.

The PHO is their signature food and is a classic that you need to try. It’s usually made from broth with plenty of noodles and meat in it. It’s not got much flavour to it but you feel healthy eating it and at the same time it fills you up entirely. It is also accompanied with leaves and lemon which you add onto the bowl. The Sechuan chicken stir fry had more flavour and the jasmine rice went as a wonderful combo to the dish. Even though we’ve made and eaten different kind of chicken dishes, these chicken pieces in this curry was still a new flavor for our palate. I thought we made the right order as there was a good balance between both the mains we ordered.

Basque Burnt Cheese Cake

The dessert was a great ending to our dinner at Vietnamese foodies. The Matcha Tiramisu was a wonderful change, away from the classic coffee/chocolate to matcha. The Matcha by itself is overpowering but thankfully there’s plenty of cream in it to balance the strong taste of green tea powder. Overall, we loved it. The Basque burnt cheese cake is a must try. It’s a heavy dessert that will easily fill you up, the cheesecake cuts smooth like butter and would just melt in your mouth. I can easily say it was one of our favorite cheese cake. Also don’t forget they make amazing hot tea and coffee, which is a soother after a good meal.
